I've always breasted them, couple yrs ago a guy in our group turned me on to saving the hearts and gizzards. No different than chicken organs except they're bit sized
No doubt about the AR crap, just damn shame hunters don't have self control and knowledge

Save the hearts, dredged then in flour dust then with creole seasoning and fry them. Like little wild bird nuggets

When I was growing up we piked um. Mom and dad grew up in the depression so we didn't waste much. Hearts and gizzards went in the gravy. Now I breast um, guess I have it good. Didn't fillet a fish either until I was on my own. Now quail is different!

I proved I could do 12 in one minute back when I hunted.
Quail hunting is like walking into, and out of a beautiful painting all day long. Gene Hill

All we had to do was gut them when we got there. I breast them now and then once home pull the breast meat off the bone.

I used to only breast them out then a few years back I started to take a dozen or two from the season and pluck them. The thing we do now is breast them, pull the meat off the breast bone and toss in a game washer bucket. Plucking is great and makes for great grilled dove on the pit. It can be done pretty quick but most of the time I'm in a hurry and don't want to mess with plucking.

Pick most of them. Love chewing on those little legs after grilling them.

I have tried plucking and cooking the them whole before, for the fun of it. More trouble than it's worth. The only extra meant is the legs, and when it comes off the pit it turns out to be nothing really.

Pluck the feathers off and save the running gear instead of breasting and skinning...

Depends on the lease rules.
Why don't we have time to do things right the first time, but always have time to do things over, and over, and over?
