handgun has to go to an FFL, yes?? Last I checked FFL for handguns. Long guns, staying in the same state, no FFL.

I believe FFL doesn't have to ship it overnight. So you might actually save some money if you do a FFL to FFL transfer (vs you ship overnight to an FFL).

ALL handguns must ship to an FFL, reguardless. Shipping method is up to you. I use UPS for all my ammo and firearms shipments.
Rifles (Long guns)- shipping inside of Texas to another Texas address, no FFL needed. Shipping rifle from Texas to outside of Texas must go to an FFL.

Has to go to a UPS hub not a stand alone store. You also have to send it overnight so it'll be $$$.

There is no law that requires a handgun to ship overnight.

But UPS and FedEx will not ship a handgun from a non FFL to a FFL no other way than overnight.

All handguns have to through an FFL unless antique or blackpowder. But you can ship USPS priority and save money. When I sell online I take it to my FFL with a prepaid USPS flatrate box ready to go. Way cheaper than UPS overnight.

But UPS and FedEx will not ship a handgun from a non FFL to a FFL no other way than overnight. A non FFL should not be shipping a handgun anyway, if you are following guidelines. And it does not have to go over night. FedEx has their "internal" requirement that all firearms must go over night, at least at the Addison hub where I have tried to ship a few times in the past. But other carries you can ship a firearm, including a handgun, regular ground shipping, which I do all the time.

Buzz, complete the sale of the handgun with the buyer (including shipping). Take the handgun to your closest FFL and have them ship it for you (insured). Shipping carrier is up to you. Cheapest is USPS, but they take the longest and is the worst one to resolve any shipping issue, like a lost or stolen package. I use UPS for all my ammo and firearm shipping. I can complete the shipping label on line (which you can also do), print the label, and drop it off at any UPS store or direct to the UPS driver on the road. In my area, I know the UPS drivers well (and they know me), and often text them for their exact location, and drop off my packages somewhere on their route in my neighborhood. The UPS store locations are shipping nazi's, and sometimes freak out when you mention ammo or guns. Some stores know me and my ORM-D packages (ammo) and are fine with them.

Depends on the destination, size of package and amount of insurance. Generally, about $20.

I shipped my RPR to Washington and Best Pawn which is my FFL up in Sherman charges $20 service plus whatever shipping is which was $35 UPS. I just boxed it up, dropped it off and paid. Much much easier to let a FFL handle the deal.
