Best size/magnification for glassing deer from 100 - 300 yards out?
I'm thinking 10 x 50 should be good all around. Need opinions.

I use 8x32, 10x42 and 10x50. I think the 10x42 are the best all around. 10x50's are a bit heavy unless you have something to rest them on. I use them in the blind, only.

What kind of hunting do you do?
I have a pair of Swarovski SLC 8x32 that I use out west running around the mountains.
When sitting glassing for a while, or in a box blind, I prefer my Swarovski EL 12x50.

I have 10x42 Swaro ELs. I love them, but if I had it to do over again would probably get 8.5x42s in the same binocular. Easier to hold steady.
I learned long ago you can't reason someone out of something they don't reason themselves into.

I am usually sitting in a blind or glassing from my truck. I use 10x50 binoculars. I don't care for any smaller than10x42s.

If only one pair, then 10x42 or 10x50

Best size/magnification for glassing deer from 100 - 300 yards out?
I'm thinking 10 x 50 should be good all around. Need opinions. Given this specific criteria, noting that 300 yds isn't very far, my vote would be for the 8.5x42 Swaro SV's, a fantastic glass. If you don't want to spend that much, a $650 Tract Toric UHD is also fantastic, and as good or better than anything under $2k. I have owned or used most of the high end binoculars out there (no Zeiss SF or Leica Noctovid though), and the finest binocular on the planet, IMO of course, is the 10x50 Swaro SV. Nothing short of phenomenal. In 8x32 size, which give up surprisingly little to the 8x42 stuff, a Cabelas Euro HD (Meopta) is super, as is a cheap Leupold Mojave 8x32. I personally use the Swaro 8x30 SLC when going small.

In that range 8x good glass and nothing higher than 10x. I don't think you need 50 obj
Swaro's are number 1 pretty much
I would take a look at those Tract Torics mentioned above as they looked great the other day.

Thanks everyone for the feedback.
Primarily will be used for deer lease and hunting from a blind. On a new lease that is much bigger and from blinds where shots will be from longer distances, Cross Timbers type geography in Erath County.
I would really love to buy some Swarovski's but they will be out of my budget for the time being. It will more than likely be soething more along the lines of Vortex, Leuopold or Nikon.
Seems like the 10x42 or the 10x50 get s lots of recommendations
Thanks

10x42 with the best glass you can swing.. I have some Leica 10x42 Geovid HDs with the range finder and while they are awesome, I also have a pair of Trijicon 10x42 HDs that aren't very far behind optically.. They are rebranded Meoptas. My brother has a pair of the Chinese made Zeiss HDs and they are damned good too.. Zen Rays are Chinese HD and very nice as well

Vortex Diamondback 10x42 are some of the best bang for the buck out there in the low/mid-range price.

I personally use the Swaro 8x30 SLC when going small. I have the same 8x30s and they are very good. I use this on about 80% of all guided hunts. Light, crisp and 300 yards and in all I need. I have a set of Meopta 10x42--very good and you can find the cabelas version in the bargain cave all the time for -400-500...a deal for what they are. Had a set of 10x Geovids--sold them as they were a bit bulky. The other 2 sets I have are 15x ( Vortex Kiabab HD, Maven--might say the Maven's edge them out) and use them when glassing desert mule deer, Aoudad sheep, and coues deer...different application and for sure longer range than 300 yards. For your stated use 10x42. The other bit of advice is to look through as many different pairs that are in your budget range as you can. Everyone's eyes are different. Best in your price range will be determined by what you see. Most of the guys I hunt with use Swarovski binocs. Two prefer Leica. I went to buy Swarovski but after looking through them all, I bought Zeiss Victory HT. Price was close enough to not be a factor. Pick what you see best through. You might want to look through the Monarch 7. I looked through a pair and they were pretty darn good. Ergonomics were excellent.

high quality 10x42 will do better that any nikon or lesser 10x50. I have been with customers and they can see anymore and it is daytime in mine. save up and get the Swaro 10x42 and never look back. I have a backup pair of 10x 42 zeiss that are great as well.

A very wise man once told me, "if you have to skip a hunt or two to save up the money for a pair of Swarovski binos, do it! They will increase your enjoyment in the field and last you a lifetime". I did and now own four pair.

Have used quite a few, currently using 10X42 mostly but some of the 7X30 have impressed and are lighter weight.
