anyone have any suggestions on what solar pannel to buy? Also, how hard are they to install and how to the wires connect to the battery in say a Moultree timer-also what batteries should I look for?

Pretty much any of them are fine, just make sure the voltage is correct for you application. Just hook the two wires to the battery and you are set.

do you have to drill holes in the housing to get the wires through to the battery?

My feeder had a plug that could be removed, but if not it would not be a big deal. Just put the hole in the bottom so you don't have to worry about water entering through the hole.

I mounted my panel on the side of the housing, so no wires would be exposed for the critters to get.

helomech,

what are the lights on the legs for? Or better yet, how do you power them for night time hog hunts (assuming that is the purpose...)

They are some very cheap solar lights for a driveway. They don't put out much light, but I think some more expensive one's might. I much rather the solar powered motion lights.

They were intended to help hunting hogs.

I like the way you mounted your solar panel. Now just upgrage to a winch feeder and you can get rid of the "T" post. All jokes aside did you caulk the edges of the solar panel, it helps. I have had mine in service for more than five years without changing batteries or critter problems. Love the lights.

No caulk, didn't see a reason to. Only made two holes for screws, and have not had any water issue inside my box.
