I was sitting in traffic tonight being blinded by the LED stoplights on the trailer ahead of me.
It then occurred to me, "Hey! Could those be used on as feeder lights? I looked up prices on line and they are not expensive and come in a waterproof enclosure.
I was thinking to just have it on while hunting.

Anyone ever tried this or am I missing something?

Never even thought about it, pretty sure they would draw more amps then some of the flood light kits you can buy. If you try it, keep us posted. I don't think they would kill a car battery in a day or two but a feeder battery may not last long.

LED trailer lights are pretty low amperage. Even the brake-light signal on a LED 1157 bulb is only half an amp. You'd need a car battery/boat battery, still, possibly with a solar charger. If the lights used a dusk-to-dawn switch, you could get about 200 hours from a 50-amp/hour car battery. A higher capacity battery would last longer. Multiple bulbs would decrease the time. You would cut the time proportionally with more bulbs. You would also want to be sure the lights DO NOT have resistors for installation in standard sockets since that would increase the current draw.

I am going to buy one and see how it works here in the yard.
I can't try it hunting till November.
Will report.

I ran LED trailer brake lights that would usually be installed on the back of a boat trailer for over 5 years as an Outfitter and they worked great. The only reason I switched is because I like the solar lights with the dawn to dusk sensor. No maintenance and the pigs stay used to it coming on every night.

Keith, thanks for the input. Always best from someone who has done it.

If you click on the link to my Facebook in my Sig, scroll through my pictures and you can actually see the trailer brake light unit that we started with before we made our own feeder lights.

That's just what I had in mind.
