After 5 or 6 years of waiting, my number came up to hunt a mouflon at Von Netzer's ranch
Anyone who has been there before care to chime in as to what to expect? Hunt will be early November.
For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

I hunted at Garet's ranch this last December. You will be treated like family during your hunt. Looking forward to our next hunt on his ranch.

I was able to join a hunting partner on Von Netzer's ranch as he hunted a black Hawaiian. It was one of the best ranches I have visited. You are treated like family from the time you pull down the driveway until your load up and head for home. You will have an AWESOME time and see some fantastic rams

Agree with what others have stated, Garrett is good people. Stayed in upstairs room of the old farm house, very nice accommodation and take meals with the family. I have harvested Black Hawaiian, Tx Dall and Mouflon with Garret, need to go back for my slam!
He has some impressive rams and tries to make it like a hunt for a relatively small ranch. Usually setup and try to wait on rams to move thru for an ambush. No aggressive hunting where you ride around in truck and shoot from vehicle. Either setup from a vantage point or spot and stalk.
Enjoy

I'm not familiar with this operation. What do you mean by your number coming up? Is there a lottery or a waiting list to hunt there?

Fell in with a group that already had a year in and it took 5 or 6 years for my name to get called. Kinda funny but I moved 4 times, got divorced and remarried in that time

Took a tour of the ranch today and saw a few rams...all I can say is goodnight, he has some big sheep!
Skittish too, I'm gonna hedge my bets and bring the Weatherby, not gonna leave anything to chance

I spoke with Garret a few times...seems like a good guy and he limits the number of Mouflons that he hunts...hence the wait list. That wait list was the reason I looked elsewhere for my Mouflon hunt. His Texas Dall and Black Hawaiian hunts had no wait list when I spoke with him.
Hopefully you will take a ram that thrills you. Regarding caliber of rifle, rather than take something with a lot of firepower, I would take the rifle I am most comfortable and accurate shooting. Anything over a 270 should be more than enough gun for a Mouflon. I've killed a Mouflon (270) and two Urials (30-06) and all three dropped in their tracks. I don't know how far the shots will be, but on this type of hunt I doubt you'll want to be shooting past 200 yards. So my vote is any rifle above 270 that you shoot well.
And take pictures!!!!

I have just fallen in love with that Weatherby. The only time I won't use it is hunting out of a box blind. My buddies that have ranch kings is where I make the exception
