Sold a barreled action to a forum member and I removed the Timney trigger that was in it and replaced it with the factory x mark pro. Now when I close the bolt the firing pin engages. Worked fine before I replaced it, any advice? Already tried adjusting it.

^^^^ This
The factory x mark was doa and must be replaced. I've got two model 700 (both about 6-8 years old) and have replaced both triggers.

It has the pin mark where is was sent in to be repaired. Guess it's a lost cause.

Remington lost millions in settlements and recalls over this trigger failure. It affected far more than the 700 series. In the end, the company settled a class-action lawsuit with a nation-wide recall/replacement/refund ( http://remingtonfirearmsclassactionsettlement.com/). There's even a law firm building their online business around the failure: http://www.remingtonrifle700recalls.com. "A settlement covering 7.5 million guns and 13 different models produced since 1948 is bound to be complex. But some have argued in court that Remington's trigger replacement program for its popular bolt-action firearms is needlessly complicated and confusing." (Hate the liberal source, but the info is good: www.cnbc.com/2015/12/08/want-your-remington-gun-fixed-heres-what-you-need-to-know.html). I'm more than happy with both of my rifles -- especially since changing the triggers...

sounds like the sear spring has jumped off the little tit it sets on,they are at an angle under the sear and may be laying down flat under the sear and not pushuing up on sear allowing it to [censored].I have worked on a good many and haven.t had any that wouldn't set to 2# or so,the external adjustment on the new ones won't get you downd very low, need to adjust the pull wt. with the screw on the trigger body.

Appreciate the info, as I figured the new owner is replacing the trigger anyway so no worries.

Best thing that'll fix a Remington 700 trigger is to remove it, and throw it in the scrap metal pile. Replace it with a Timney.
