What is your opinion of the Range Officer? Thinking about one. Thanks Daniel

My son has one. He's shoots every bit as good as my Kimber. Accurate and smooth.

I was in the 1911 market awhile back. Heavily considered Springfield, Kimber, Ruger, and Colt. Was set on a Ruger SR1911, but ended up buying a used stainless Colt at a gun show for the same price because the Ruger seller wouldn't budget on price. Rugers seem to all have pretty good triggers from the factory. Nearly every Springfield I tried had slack/creep. My Colt has an excellent trigger, but I'm not sure if that was factory or the previous owner had work done.

Springfield RO is a nice combination of features and price, but the Ruger SR1911 is a better combination of features and price for the money, and you can upgrade anytime.

Springfield Armory doesn't care about my 2nd Amendment. I won't buy their products.

I liked everything about mine except the LPA rear sight. There were not many options for changing out the sights back then without doing milling on the slide. There are quite a few options out there now though. Good accurate little gun.

Curious about your comment? Wasn't aware of anything like that. I won't touch a colt for the crap they pulled with not selling to civilians a while back.

That's the spin. IFMA is headed up by the guys who run SA and RRA. They've been playing this hame for years.

I don't think that we have all the facts yet - just a whole of spin so far.

But I like the SR 1911 - great trigger!

A Democracy is when two wolves and a lamb vote on the dinner menu. That is why this country was specifically not designed as a Democracy. We are a Constitutional Republic.

Even better after a trigger job. I'm in love with mine, just added the grips and now I'm looking for an engraver.

I think someone, somewhere was stirring an empty pot. Just received this from Springfield:

"The 2nd Amendment urgently needs your help in Illinois!

The Illinois House of Representatives may consider Senate Bill 1657, legislation that could put state gun dealers out of business, at any time!
It is imperative you share this with friends and family living in Illinois and strongly urge them to OPPOSE SB 1657!

SB 1657 would create onerous mandatory regulations, fees potentially in the thousands of dollars and excessive amounts of red tape that would almost assuredly force the closure of many firearm dealers, and prevent prospective owners from opening new ones. The federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) already licenses and closely monitors all federally licensed firearm dealers (FFLs) and strictly enforces any violation of federal law.

SB 1657 goes far beyond federal law and is designed to shut down as many FFLs as possible.

Again, please click the “Take Action” button above to contact your state Representative and urge them to strongly oppose SB 1657! Stay tuned to www.nraila.org for further updates on this bill."

I think SA is going through a PR nightmare and trying to bail a sinking ship.

No empty pot. SA and RRA are ttying to walk it all back. Too little, too late. There's plenty of evidence documented showing they were courting the opposition. Read the links I've posted. It's all there.

Why would they do something that could possibly create the beginning of the end for their company?
Why not just shut the doors & close shop as opposed going down on a sinking ship?
W/out reading your links, who is the person/people that have proof they did what the articles are saying?
I read the links. Seems like they did it to get into a better position w/the Dems so they could fight them better? Weird deal for sure. Seems highly ignorant for them to donate a single cent. It appears all these donations were from 2013 as the most recent. Why are we just now hearing about it?
I find it extremely hard to believe SA would cut their nose off to spite their face.

I wrote off RRA a few years ago. Our department no longer allows the use of them, and is slowly getting rid of the ines we have. They have terrible throat erosion, and RRA did nothing but shut a door in our face.

On the note of 1911's, I've never shot a SA, but my Kimber had a trigger that I now judge all pistol triggers by. It was so crisp, and light, it made me wish my rifle triggers were just like it.
