I decided to make a quick trip to the lease on Saturday to fill a couple of feeders and check the cameras. After filling feeders and swapping cards I decided to do some shed hunting. I walked the majority of my area of the lease before walking around my brothers area. I decided to walk down the creek in my brothers area and make my way to a couple of his feeders to check on them. After walking a short distance I found a skull with the antlers wedged into some rocks. As I got closer I couldn't believe my eyes. It was my buck that I never found during bow season of 2015. I found the skull maybe 700-800 yards from where I shot him. Odd thing was that he jumped the fence onto the neighbors property and must have ran down the fence line before making his way back onto our side of the fence to end up where he did. Here is a pic of my buck from 2015. here is how I found him I also found this other 8pt about 20 yards from the 10 in the creek.

Interesting I wonder if that was his final resting place or it got washed there from up stream I was wondering the same thing Pretty sure it was washed downstream based on how the antlers were wedged into the rocks. Question is how far did they wash downstream because I have never seen water in this particular creek but during heavy rains I am sure there is some run off through it.

Congrats, in that country there were some heavy rains since then, and some of those dry creeks can run a lot. Creek doesn't happen to run from the neighbors place to your place does it?

Congrats on the find. I have hunted that area years ago, I seen dry creeks that after a heavy rain they were running several feet deep. On one a guy worked all summer damming one up a dry stream bed, in the fall we had a gully washer, it washed his dam down stream.

Here is a map of the location. Blue is obviously how the creek runs. The red is bow feeder where he was hit. Yellow is where he crossed the fence and broke the arrow off which led to the only drop of blood that was found. Orange is roughly the location where I found the skull.

That's awesome man, I'd hate to lose one like that, glad you found him
If I send my neighbors a text and ask them to give me feedback on my lawn and plant rye into a giant dong pattern, I'm probably going to get some less than positive feedback. Same goes here.

I'd expect coyotes carried it to where you found it more then I'd believe that it got there from the rains.

Regardless of how it got there, that's awesome.
I found a pair of antlers (not really a skull, because there wasn't much left but a piece of the cap) from a buck I shot a few years back, and though they were bleached form the sun, they were pretty dense still. Took a couple of brown markers from an art store and added some color back to them. Some clear polyeurethane coating afterwards, and they looked great.
Congrats on finding him. Great buck.

I would have walked right past it, looking for arrowheads. I tend to zone out when head hunting.

I am surprised that it was in that good of shape, I would have thought that the antlers would have been chewed up. Great find.
