http://www.academy.com/shop/pdp/cannon-safe-force-64-gun-safeNot a bad price for that size and interior. Better than the $499 Cannon 42 gun safe that Costco has now. If they don't have it at your academy they can look it up and tell you which stores near you do have it.

I would inspect it carefully if I wanted anything more than a cabinet to keep kids out. Thick steel is not cheap. Thin walled Chinese "safes" are vulnerable to an ax or prybar.

You get what you pay for...... Yeah, I want to save a couple hundred bucks on a device that holds $10-$20-$100k or more worth of guns. You don't need it until you need it, and then it will be too late. JMO but a safe is one of the most 'buy once, cry once' items there is.

This looks like a good deal to me. Many people are just looking for a way to keep guns and other stuff locked up. Also, not everyone has $100K worth of guns or can afford to spend $5K on a safe.
This is a good deal that makes home firearm security affordable for most.

I have this safe and love it so far. I paid $799. I'm sure it's a total p.O.S. though.
Haven't had it in years but never spit any out. I am a sucker for happy endings and strapped cowboys.

Just to make sure that it is done thoroughly, I go both ways.

This is a good deal that makes home firearm security affordable for most. It's definitely a good deal if it fits your needs. It never hurts to get 40% off.

Wow, that seems light to me. I had a 8/16 gun safe that weighed like 400 I think

it must be different than mine, mine is 64 gun safe made by canon but it weighed almost 600 lbs. And yes it is same thickness all the way around. The back wall has a fabric wrapped sheetrock panel as do the sides, which I like.

Get what you pay for as others have said. My American Security 46 gun weighs 750 lbs.

The back wall has a fabric wrapped sheetrock panel as do the sides, which I like. I have a Canon safe as well and feel it provides good value at a good price point. No question better safes are available that will keep someone out for hours. Not sure that level of protection is needed in the typical urban setting. "Layered defense" is always the best approach and your neighbors should never be overlooked as part of that. The Web is also a good source of checking value, and I have never found someone sharing a report of their Canon safe failing to protect their valuables. Lock failures, yes, but not the safe itself. I did find this account of a Canon safe doing what it was designed to do. Link

This is definitely not a safe I would store watches or jewelry in but 20 long guns would be fine. If your guns are special than yeah get a fort knox or something higher end.
It does have a lower fire rating than most cannons (30 minutes vs 90 minutes) but in the case of a fire your guns are probably toast anyways.
If you have someone in your house breaking in and they know your huge safe is easy to break into they probably wouldn't have a problem stealing your fort Knox either if the value inside was worth it.
My safe is a fence. It keeps most people out but if someone is determined to get into it what am I going to do while I'm at work and they have 9+ hours to get to it.

Most safes are lined with drywall material as a fire barrier.
