Nice shootin' thorn. What ammo or load were you shooting? I'm fixing to start shooting mine and working on loads. Thanks.

It is a 3 shoot. I should have focused better when I took the pic.
I started at 25 yards and shot about 5 rounds.
Moved to 100 and was high and brought it here.
I made the first shoot and another man on the lease made the second and a third man made the third shot.
It was cheap monarch 243 win in 100 grain soft point.
We were all aming at the bullseye. I like mine a little high at 100
It is really a good shootin rifle.
I do reload for my 243's but haven't for this one yet

My American in .243 would group that well also. Can't knock that kind of group from a $350 rifle!

Dang, that's some good shooting!
That rifle with a quality optic is deadly!
We should have a sub $600 dollar set-up contest!

Those little rifles are proving to be excellent shooters in most cases. I have seen a couple that would have been better if used as tomato stakes. Glad you got a good one. A friend has one that did well with 100s but even better with 85s. Might be worth a try. Either way that looks like a dead critter!

My .243 Standard model and 308 Predator both shoot exceptionally well for sub $400.00 rifles.

My american in .243 shoots that well, but only with Winchester 95g "deer season" ammo. I have tried Fusion, Remington, monarch, and Winchester super x. It is all over the place with those, really strange.

That's awesome! Especially by 3 different shooters consecutively. Sure nice to know I'm not the only one to "discoverl" this great rifle. I'm on my second one now (in .308). I knew nothing about the Ruger American when I bought the first one the day before opening day of deer season 2 years ago when I got a last second invite to hunt down here at a buddy's place (I was temporarily living in SC). and just threw a Vortex scope on it (also discovered Vortex optics for first time) and off to lease I went. Sighted in rifle & scope that night at 50 yds by truck's headliights and shot a buck and hog the next morning. I was so impressed with that rifle and scope that cost me less than $600 combined. Heck, that was WAY less than either my Browning A-Bolt and Zeiss scope alone. Continued shooting the Ruger/Vortex setup all that year and this last past year. Shot WAY better with the Ruger/Vortex and ended up keeping those and sold the Browning/Zeiss with no regrets whatsoever!
If you wanna run with the big dogs, you gotta get off the porch!

Are you going to pull those pistols, or whistle Dixie?
