We always leave about 8:30
Is that too early?
For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

Is that too early? Normally I'd say yes, but it really depends on where you're hunting. If you're not seeing birds at all, probably the right call. However, when birds are in the area I like to stay until 10am.

I like just being out there. I'll hunt until 11 or 11:30. Sometime birds get kicked up when other go in.

Depends on what and where were hunting If there's a lot of water around trnd to hunt a little later. If your whole depends on other guns around you to stir them up will usually wait 30 minutes past the last shot we hear. I have sat an hour plus without seeing anything before and then have three or four groups come iIn.
It's all about how much time you have too

I don't leave until 10 regardless Me too. At mallard time (9:00), at that point when it has been an hour without any action, then I leave. So if 10:00, and I have not seen any birds in the last hour, I pack up. If I saw birds at 9:30, then I give it to 10:30....

Most of time I would say yes-we had a pretty good smack down after the big rain storm came through a week or two ago moved blinds-didn't pull the trigger till about nine 915 birds kept rolling in past 11

Last year, we had hunts that we had to stay until 1 or 2 to get our limit.

If it is during the week and I gotta get to work, I'll take off a little early... 8:30 to 9 or so. But if not, I'll stay until 10 or later. Had a couple of hunts that I stayed until noon. I just like being out there and the way I see it, getting there is the hard part. Why leave early?
No matter how long I decide to stay if I don't have my limit, as soon as I decide to pick up dekes here they come.

Too much work to leave at 830. Try to sit until at least 930 or 10.

During the week before work, I won't stay past nine if I don't see any birds. If it's a weekend or day off, I'll stay pretty long, even if I'm not seeing any birds. Depends on if I'm hunting with other people and their schedule sometimes, but if I've got nothing to do and no other restrictions, I'll stay until 11 even if I'm not seeing anything at all.
I agree with Larry. Hardest part is getting there. You're already there, so may as well try to wait them out.
I just turned it on . I was looking bird dogs in the butt this morning.

I'm hunting private water in central and south Texas. 99% of the time there isn't any other pressure to move the birds around
Mainly we have gadwall, widgeon, pintail, teal and a few redheads/canvasbacks with some spoonbills. No mallards
Places I hunt are from 1 acre to 50 acres with 1-10 acres of water most common
For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

Our small 40+ acre lake is hot and heavy right at day break for about 30-45 minutes. Then it tapers off fast. By 8, it's very slow. We left at 9:30 Saturday morning (yesterday) when no ducks were flying and dreaming about hot coffee and breakfast burritos got the best of us.
