NF ATACR has another Mil based reticle option. As well as another magnification range, 7-35X.

Athlon Ares looks awesome. Link Here I like the 2.5-15x50 a lot.

I checked out and talked to Athlon at SHOT. The Ares is nothing more than the Midas with different magnification and reticle options. Turret click are so so, glass is decently clear, I'd say on par with the viper pst while looking through it indoors with no natural light.
The PST gen II looks good, but I feel Vortex is starting to price themselves out of the market to which they became popular with. The new bushnell elite LRHS (long range hunting scope) and LRTS (long range tactical scope) are FFP, mil or moa knobs, and matching reticle in 4.5-18x44mm or 3-12x44mm and look quite good as an alternative to vortex.

The Athlon Ares is a FFP scope where the Midas is SFP. The Ares is also made in Japan where the Cronus is made. The Midas is Japanese components that are assembled in China. Both the Ares and Midas have the same magnification ranges - 2.5-15x o 4.5-27x. I have a Midas BTR 4.5-27x50. The glass is on par with the Sightron SIII glass which is IMO a lot better than the Vortex PST glass. For the price,Athlon scopes offer a lot of scope for the money. I'm not hooked on the brand,I just liked what I saw and purchased the Midas BTR to compare it to some of my higher priced optics. I haven't had the time to really test my scope much since I mounted it on the new 260 AI that I built, and so far I have only used it while fire forming 100 cases for the rifle. I'm hoping to start testing it out soon.

Given the same features, aren't the LRHS several hundred higher than the Gen II PST?

$100-$200 more than vortex with same lifetime no questions asked warranty. Didn't say they were better or cost less, but are a good alternative to vortex.

Lifetime warranty is as good as the company. How long has Athlon been in business?

The new level inside the scope that both Sig and Leupold are bringing out sounds good in theory not sure if it will show to be useful while hunting. Having lights go on and off letting you know your level seems like it would be distracting.
