Anyone else practice their duck calling while in their truck alone? I got a strange look at a red light when practicing calling. I just laughed!

Yeah, I call at people while driving all the time to see how they react. Some of the looks you get are quite comical. I practice calling all the time, when the wife isnt around to tell me to shut up

I used to. One day anotruck answered my hail call with a feed chuckle at the red light.

We had a grand old time until the green light.
clap

Thought for the day: Ducks were almost hunted to extinction long before camo was invented.

My favorite is in the car pool line at school, I get some kids looking around for a duck. It makes me feel good about my calling. Lol

I'd be careful. I was blowing my call in the truck one day and get pulled over. The first words out of the cop's mouth was, "Where's the pot?" Apparently the green Haydel's Red Leg looked like a pot pipe. When I showed him, he rolled his eyes and told me to have a good day. Thank GOD he didn't search the truck!

I was playing with a decibel meter yesterday. (Free one out of the App Store for your phone.)

Timber call 93-96db
Open water call.104-108db

For reference, I believe that means the open water call is about 10 times louder than the timber call and both are in the range where hearing damage can result after long periods of exposure.

I'm gonna have to rethink my practice time.
