And he can keep it too... Found this guy out sunning today at Gus E while I was scouting a couple of new spots I've been wanting to look at. I always wonder in the back of my mind how close we really come to them while walking around in the marshes and creeks. Y'all be safe out there! Keep ya eyes open for the gators and the snakes.

I have wondered the same thing while wading around at Gus Engling and a few other places.
Agree the local can keep that hunting spot

He may not bother you but he might be interested in a dog snack. There are plenty out there. I usually dont go Or don't take a dog when the temps are warm. Coach

I wouldn't worry about him bothering you but definitely would not hunt a dog there.

I would imagine most duck mornings it's too cold for them to muster the energy to do anything.

I hunted Gus a long time ago. Got all set up before sunrise. When the sun came up I turned around to see an alligator nest about 10 feet behind me....
Haven't been back since.

You haven't lived until you have been chased by a gator. No that's one thing I don't mind not to check off the list.

gators are not bad at all. I grew up in Florida. Me and a buddy was practicing for a bass tourney on lake Marian...the southeastern most lake in the kissimmee chain. Lake was infested with gators. We were in a 15 ft aluminum boat converted to a "bass rig" lol. We came to a shallow area and in the white sand we saw a 2-3 ft baby gator resting in 6" of water. I started throwing my spinnerbait at it and it was snapping at it...just having fun. One of us turned to look toward the main lake and I guess momma didn't like us messing with jr. She was bee lining straight for us. We got on the trolling motor and it took at least a 100 yards before she turned away. Later we came around a grass point...there sat a gator almost as long as our boat 5 yards away. We headed out toward the main lake needless to say. We counted no less than 30 "logs" out in the middle of the lake that day.
I would say the pooch is the main concern when hunting with your dog. Gators want to stay as far away "generally" as they can from humans.

Hes just getting some energy while he can.... its all about water temp and no way the water is warm enough for them to be feeding.. he will hang out then when the sun goes away he will head back to the den.. now if it stayed sunny and these temps for another week then your dog may have something to worry about. mid day and sun out is bout the only time your gona see them right now

Even if it's just a little guy. There may be a dominant male in the area. I wouldn't risk it......

That's just a baby. He ain't gonna hurt nobody. But there are older gators in Engeling that do eat man size hogs and deer. It's the ones you don't see I would worry about. Catfish Creek Gator

The only trouble that lil 8@st@rd is going to cause you is eat your birds.
First ever duck hunt in Louisiana I shot two teal, but only took home one. The gator took the other.
