I am wanting to change out a rail that has its own barrel nut already installed and I don't have any tools for the job apparently. Anybody here on the forum that does this or has the tools?
Thanks

Is there an Academy nearby? Most of their stores have the upper clamp and the armorers wrench. You'll eventually need them again anyway.

I am a Gunsmith and have the tools but I am pretty darn far from you. I am in west Houston off of I-10. If you are going to be in my area any time then send me a PM on here and I will take care of it for you. What rifle, caliber and free floating handguard are you throwing on it?

Your post is not specific on your experience with the AR platform. At the risk of insulting you, and I truly am not intending to do so, installing a free float rail is not simply a crank off the barrel nut and slide it on. You will likely have to remove the front sight post/gas block and gas tube. On the free float barrel nut they sometimes require shims to fit it all up properly. All part of the fun of tinkering with the AR.

Yeah you can get AR tools and parts for dirt cheap money right now. I am tempted to build a LH AR15 on Red X Arms parts just because it's so cheap to build one right now. I still have two all taken apart that I need to refinish and throw back together at some point. If you are ever looking for a good barrel then check out Green Mountain Barrel Company.
