30-30 has killed more deer than any other caliber. I have heard this before and your comment made me curious. Did a Google search and much like the subject line it is debatable. I was thinking about buying a lever gun early in the season, lost my lease out west so I am hunting the hard and piney woods of east and southeast Texas, thought a good sturdy lever gun would be a good fit. Talked myself out of it, need another bolt gun.

I bet more deer are killed in the US with a 30-06 this year than were ever killed by a 30-30.

Then it was the 30-03 and finally the 30-06. Don't think a person could ever produce the evidence to back up that claim. I do remember the old American Sportsman Winchester ad's making that very claim, my old Pop called BS immediately.
Yes! A Weatherby does kill them deader.

I have no doubt that it was true at some point. Most of the population used to be in the east and based on the amount of 30-30 ammo sold and where the people and deer lived it probably was true. I am going to buy a 30-30 lever gun at some point.

MOA being more precise than MIL?

The antlers looked a lot bigger through the scope. I made that shot at XXX yards free hand - I don't need a rest or shooting sticks. The one and only perfect deer cartridge is XXX. As soon as I shot the 6 pointer, a massive 10 point came out, but I had already used my tag. I sat in that blind every weekend and saw nothing. My brother-in-law sat there this morning and he shot "my" deer.

Ag Hunter, no debate on that question. If your wife/girlfriend is asking, the answer-- within .001 milliseconds of the question is, "No, they look fantastic on you."

Very true Stretch! That question has nothing to do with telling the truth if it's the Mrs that is asking. I cannot imagine any of my hunting buddies ever asking that question!
