Recently purchased an AR in .223 that I use for targets and hunting, I have a cheap red dot but want to replace it with a scope so I can feel more comfortable hunting outside 50yds. I don't need anything fancy, I'd be fine with just a typical Bushnell Banner 40mm 3-9x or something of the sort BUT I'm not sure if a normal riflescope is built to handle high-volume shooting: SO
A) will a normal deer scope stay sighted-in after 150rds of .223 B) any suggestions on a mid-range scope for below $150
On a different thread someone had a picture of a Leupold VX-R 2-7x 33 that would be PERFECT were it not way outside my price range #PoorCollegeKid

Any decent scope will handle as many rounds as you want to run through your AR. I wouldn't get caught up in looking for an "AR" scope, especially since you will be hunting with it. The Minox ZV 3 you can get from Camera Land for $99.99 blows anything else out the water in that price range - IMO. Nikon has a two piece riser you can get for $50.00 that will work great. http://www.cabelas.com/product/Nikon-P-S...mp;gclsrc=aw.dshttp://m.cameralandny.com/spec_sheet.html?catalog[name]=Minox-ZV-3-3-9x40---PLEX-%2366005-Minox-ZV-&catalog[product_guids][0]=19b81e80-0bd3-0134-7eba-00163e9110c0

Deer, Good job finding a scope that fits your needs and budget. Soory I"m a bit late to this thread but still going to toss out this info. Nikon has the P-223 3-9 BDC 600 on sale that can be picked up for $30 off at about $169. Another scope I like on on AR's because it's low profile and I like the magnification range is Nikon's PROSTAFF 2-7x32 BDC, this scope comes in under $140. I do freelance Shooting Event's with Nikon so my scopes see a lot of rounds every year from a lot of different shooter's. They handle all the hard use and if something id happen Nikon stands behind what they make. Have fun shooting and in case you haven't picked out a mount yet and you're looking for something reasonable check out the P-Series 2 piece AR mount. Easy to use and a lot of flexibility in how you choose to mount your scope.
If you guy's ever have any question's or problem's about a Nikon scope feel free to drop me a note and I'll do my best to help you out.
Longtime hunter/shooter/fisherman who loves being outdoors. I used to hunt/compete with my son, but he's now stationed in Germany. Never enough time.

A Redfield Revolution 2x7 with Accu-range reticle would work nice for your purposes. A little more than your stated budget but worth it.
I have two, one on an AR and one on RAR 223. Also bought two one each for my granddaughters rifles.
