OK fellas here we go I'm trying to make a decision on a new rifle chambered in 308 this will be my hunting rifle as this will be my long range rifle I have a Leupold Mark 4 that will be going on these rifles so the first rifle be A tikka t3x ctr 20 inch barrel threaded the one thing I don't like about it is the stock so I will be replacing it with the Bell and Carlson M40 Style and then that it's ready to go.
second one is a Remington 700 AAC-SD heavy bull barrel threaded but here's some upgrades to do first to get it up to where I like it to be replacing it with a Bell & Carlson M40 style stock as well timney trigger 510 Leupold 20 MOA base with Magpul drop in mag also have to Polish at the bolt and slide to get that nice slide no hang up when I'm feeding rounds back and forth. I will have to upgrade the bold knob as well .
Third I was looking at a Savage 10 fluted barrel 20 inch threaded with the accutrigger I still have to replace the stock with the Bell and Carlson M40 but I had a Savage in the pass no luck with that trigger keeps hanging up on me and when I needed to fire it won't fire I don't know if it's something I can fix so .I need your fellas help I need your input is it worth building the 700 the rifle that I know it can be or go buy the tikka replace the stock and go hit the range will try my luck again with the Savage . I'm leaning more towards the tikka but I like to have your input before I buy.

Pick the one you like the best.
I have the AAC in a B&C stock and have been pleased with the accuracy out to 1100yds. It will be fine for stationary hunting but I prefer my lighter rifles when I'm spot and stalking.
I have dedicated long range rifles and dedicated hunting rifles. The Tikka might be the best compromise between weight and accuracy. I'd like one myself to be honest but in 260.

Savage will out shoot them.... never had any accutrigger issues... would love to understand what your's was doing. Running a gun shop we go through them all, tried them all, but have all gone back to Savage for out of the box accuracy.

The Silver Part of the accutrigger was sticking some time when I feed a round in the chamber when I go pull the trigger it wouldn't fire

Only complaint i have out of my savage is the stock doesn't fit me well. Only gun I ever ordered and had shipped instead of handling it before purchase. Go hold them all see which one you like best.

I am not sure what your calling long range, but a .308 is more of a mid range rifle. I have a tricked out Remington 700 in that caliber I love for out to about 400 yds but if I get further than that, I'm pulling out the .300 in the same set up. You can't go wrong with the 700AAC and there is so much you can do with it upgrade wise.
How come everybody I meet is a deer hunting expert?

This was the problem I had with Savage. Not only that, but nobody except Boyds made stocks to fit the Savage model 10/11 action with the Axis mags. And I wasn't particularly fond of either of those. My only other option was $200+ on CDI bottom metal, at which point I just decided to move over to the Tikka. Waiting to get my T3x varmint in this week.

Some good info so I'm thinking on the Remington 700AAC-SD or the Remington 5r Of those two, the 5R is clearly the better rifle. I've had both. That said, Tikka would be my choice ( I own one). Remington QA has gone down the tubes, and there's no sign it will recover. Good luck with your search!

Sometimes I think I'm the only guy that actually likes the Tikka CTR stock. I like the vertical grip, texture, cheek riser, it just works.

I would just go with the tikka and leave the stock or just buy a 5r because it has a bc stock already. I would never buy a savage because they are ugly

See my earlier post made today about my Tikka CTR. I also have a 5R mill spec with a Timney trigger. I can't find anything wrong with the Tikka stock. I've hunted with it, shooting it prone off a bipod and hammered everything this year. For a "hunting" ring ready to go, there's no better. This thing is crazy accurate.
An unethical shot is one you take, that you know you shouldn't.
