My wife has a 18" kimber Montana.243 and a nice lite ar-15 556 with a Daniel defense LW barrel. She shot my tikka t3 lite 300 win mag and now she has claimed it as hers. She runs everythung suppressed, as we both have our own suppressors. I had a nice custom barreled 308 winchester that shot great but just got bored over the years. Sold it to a friend, so i need to replace a rifle, so thats where the Remington 5r 300 win mag comes into play. Anybody have one and how has your luck been so far. I found a decent deal on a remington 5r gen 2 300 win mag nib that also comes with a new timney trigger in its box still. The rifle will be used for stand hunting and maybe nilgai hunting again one day. I Know Remington makes the normal 5r in 300 winmag and figured they had the same barrel minus the fluting. Anybody have one or had one? If so how has the accuracy been?

I have shot several of the 5R 300 WM, and they shoot decent. A tuned load will do sub moa.

I have it in .308, as does a good friend. We're hunters first, but do shoot for fun on the range a few times per year using factory Hornady Superformance Ammo. Shooting sub MOA isn't a problem at all, and sometimes we'll shoot a group that is stacked up pretty tight, all touching. I bought mine to stand hunt, since I have a solid rest and bags. I can't imagine the .300 being any less of a shooter, for what my opinions worth. We did change triggers, Timney of course.
An unethical shot is one you take, that you know you shouldn't.

I have one of the stainless w/ green stock 5Rs in 300WM. Currently it shoots 1/2 MOA with 180gr Accubonds and H4831.
Mine was involved in the trigger recall, so I replaced the trigger with a Timney. Other than that, it's all original (plus optic/mount).

Never owned or shot one, but have heard a lot about them. The first time I have ever heard/read the word "decent" used to describe them is ^^^^ there. Everyone I know or have talked to loves theirs.
It's hell eatin em live

I used to have one. It was great and only reason I sold it was because I never shot it and mostly used short actions. It shot lights out with my 208 a-max hand loads. They're very nice guns for a factory built rifle.

I was just out with mine, shooting the 200gr Precision Hunter ELD-X load from Hornady and a Specwar762 can. It was a pussycat to shoot, and subMOA.

Thanks for the info fellas. I had a regular 5r in .308 winchester and .223 when they first came out. Both of them shot very good factory ammo. I just brought the 5r 2nd gen home to install the timney in it and mount the scope. I like it so far, i am going to be running a yhm titanium suppressor on it. Cant wait to take it to the range tomorrow.

The last couple of days i ran some winchester 180 power point, fusion 180, and some 200 grain eld-x ammo factory ammo I had laying around in the house thru the 5r. Everything I have put thru it so far has averaged around a inch. The Hornady eldx was a smidgen more. When i got home today, i gave the rifle a good look over, when i did i noticed it had a magazine box that was in a bind and a front stock screw that was contacting a bolt lug. So i quickly Shaved the box and the screw down, so now back to the range tomorrow hopefully.
