I'm interested in how this works out.

I bought mine at Northern Tools, paid a little more but had more led's. Fasten to a 10' conduit stuck over a fence post. It worked great, had to set up at night to get the motion sensor in the right angle. Also used a wireless motion sensor alarm, like one used for driveways, to wake me up when the hogs came in.

The range on the motion sensor is the 30-40 feet, the device that alerts you is good for 100 yards or better. This is for the driveway alert system from Northern Tool.

Awe, that makes more sense... I was thinking 30-40yrds isn't much .....ironically our camp is about 100-110 yards away from where I'm setting this up so it may work perfect

Yes, had to wrap a cloth around the receiver to keep noise low. Bought a extra transmitter for two locations around feeder it has different tone, same receiver.

I bought one like that from harbor Freight. Works pretty well. range 100 to 400 yards depending line of sight. Has a high and low on the receiver as far as sound.

I go into the alert box and cut the wire that gives the audio. Then I can just watch for the "blinking red light" and I know I may have a potential customer out there. Works great.

Gonna mark this for a project I have coming up.. Which solar panel have you guys used? Last one I bought seemed to get water in it every time it rained until it died..
I really hate to do what I am about to do, because it will be very painful for you.

http://texashuntingforum.com/forum/ubbth..._fo#Post6566139Yes I own these lights so this may be biased but as a hunting guide of 17 years this is by far the best fully solar powered light I have ever touched.

Gonna see how it holds up....$39.99 solar, AA rechargeable LED light....plan on stopping by an Autozone and picking up some tail light repair tail and color it red.....anyone rig something like this up? I'm using a similar setup. I spent a lot less on the light. Sunforce 100 LED Solar off Ebay. Been a while, but should be several of them on there. I was patient for the right bid and combined three of them for shipping. It has a small bracket that allows you to adjust the light and sensor up and down. I just screwed it to the tree with two long wood screws using the mounting holes on the bracket. It has three adjustments like yours probably does. Sensitivity, duration, and light. I found for when there has been a stormy day or two and the duration is at the max, the lux is not at the minimum letting it turn on too early or during a storm, and the sensitivity to high so there is too much activity from rabbits and such to keep turning it on, it will not work all night so I had to play with the settings to find the best for each to get the most out of it to get it to come on all night when triggered. Or at least as late as we are willing to get up and check it. There is an 80 LED version that I am sure is just as good, but the 100 LED has 1000 Lumens and crazy lights the place up. I leave it white light. In three years using one of these the hogs have never cared. I mounted the solar panel on the tree separate the same way with four wood screws in a different position higher up the tree to get the best sun. Our camp night hog feeder has a driveway sensor too. It is at the end of a trail from camp with an open crows nest stand that looks over a feeder from above so we can walk up to it without alerting whatever is at the feeder. We spent a little more money on this one than yours, but not much. We use a chamberlain driveway sensor. The one like you have just did not have the range through thick trees to work for us. On our second year with the chamberlain and working great. Light and driveway alarm with patient bidding off ebay, no more than $60 invested total, but know the driveway sensor we use has gone up in price since I bought our current one.

This is the one I have. https://sunforceproducts.com/product_details.php?PRODUCT_ID=265Pay attention to the Lumen output when buying a light. 1000 Lumens is almost overkill, but some are so low that on a low battery like after a cloudy day or late into the night they will not cut it unless your right over the feeder. I don't know what that minimum would be though. The chamberlain driveway sensor works well for us being close to camp, but I plan on replacing it with a dakota murs system so we can use it even farther away if we want. The cheaper one was kinda a test to see if I liked the idea first.

Pigs around my place don't like lights that flash on and off and would run into the shadows as soon as the motion light came on. I switched to $10 solar spots mounted upside down on the feeders and for a while they gave just enough light to see movement from 100 yards. A steady dim light that comes on at dark seems to suit them just fine.
