It's been too long. I had them last night with fresh turnips and mustards from my garden, along with scratch cornbread, blackeyed peas, and chow-chow.
Quail hunting is like walking into, and out of a beautiful painting all day long. Gene Hill

Ever read a book called "The Help?" This one maid told the boss lady to cook what's in. I still have a little of that from the old days. I've never bought turnips or mustards in my entire life. quote=bill oxner]I plan to cook up some mustards and turnips Friday, along with scratch cornbread, fried pork chops, blackened peas, and chow-chow. I'm looking forward to steamed broccoli , Sunday to go along with my grilled tenderloin, and baked potato. The hot October has caused my cilantro to bolt. Maybe, just maybe I will have a few slicer tomatoes to make turkey, bacon clubs, with my leftover turkey during the holidays. This was a volunteer that I transplanted on the south side of my house. Haven't had pork chops like that in far too long. Think I'll cook the next batch like that.

Bill, you eat like a king. My wife and I are trying to do the same type of cooking you do, we put up lots of produce from our garden and ate fresh all summer.

Turnip Greens, Mustard Greens, and Khale (aka Turnip Salad)....all grown together.....cut all tops off when about 6" high. Sometimes they can grow out again for a second batch. Wash 2/3 times in wash tub with salty water to remove dirt and bugs. I miss them groceries we grew in N.Carolina
