I was drawn for this coming weekend's hunt at White Oaks Creek. Any tips or good info that you can pass on about the area will be greatly appreciated. Never hunted there before but if things go good I can see myself going there at least once every season.

I have a friend whose son had a deer stand stolen there. It was locked to a tree. I have another friend whose boat trailer was damaged while he was bow-hunting. Most hunters would never do something like this, and would gladly help out a fellow hunter. I have no idea if this is common in the area, or if they just had bad luck.

Thieves also broke into the WMA headquarters a few years ago and stole a bunch of stuff, including an ATV. Local white trash, meth heads I assume.

First day, walked in about 20 mins. Stopped to check my GPS and heard what I thought was a squirrel to my left. When I turned to look, it was a little buck. Both antlers were branched so I couldn't take him. He must have known he was safe cause he walked all the way around me for about 30 mins, 20 yards away, while I stood frozen like a statue. And that was my first hour in my area on the first day. I thought surely I'll get lucky and have another one to come by. The only other thing that I saw that I could shoot at was a decent sized hog, but he was across the river from me. Other than that, there were 3 does that ran in front of my truck when I was driving out for the evening. Basically, it was a nice nature walk. I enjoyed the opportunity to at least have a chance. Hopefully next year I'll bring something home.
