140 gr bullet, 43.5 gr H-4350, in the past.
I'd load a 143 gr Hornady ELD-X if I were starting with a new .260

Thanks that gives me a staring point , he will be hunting with it also and it is a 1-8 rate so I was thinking 130-140

I shoot a 260 and use 100 gr Nosler BT's for varmints, and the 120's for deer. If I was looking for a new bullet, it would be the 130 gr Accubond. But If the kids don't like recoil, load up the 100 grainers. The last buck I shot with the 100 gr Nosler BT, I put it right through the lungs. Got the pink mist and a blood trail I could see from the blind. The blood trail only went 30 yards max, with the only bad news being that he died smack dab in the middle of a frigid creek. Maybe the 120 or 140 gr bullets would have drooped him short of that darn creek.
The load on the 100 grainer is a 'warm' load of imr4064. Behind the 120 grainer I use R17.
I think of the 260 as a 270 lite.
