A landowner once reported that he watched a buck slowly walk right through the middle of our camp during the week when everyone was gone. He said it was one of the funniest sights he had ever seen, and that the buck appeared to be doing it in spite.
I myself remember when I once caught two does standing next to my ATV when returning from a morning hunt.

I got a call to assist EMS early one morning. A young lady waiting on her school bus was attacked and injured by a rutting 8 pt. buck in Niederwald, TX. This is on the prairie, east of I-35 in Hays Co. Hadn't seen a deer in that part of county in years.

Had 4 doe come straight through the middle of our camp about 8 one night. The conversation stopped, they trotted on through between us, and we carried on with the discussion. Also had a muley doe walk through our game of cornhole one afternoon up in Colorado.

I once shot a buck in my underwear. What that buck was doing in my underwear, I'll never know.

Got hit by a deer in the middle of Austin. There was about a 1 acre wooded area. He ran out of it and right into the side of my car at 11 at night.

I had come into the cabin after the morning hunt. I was standing on the front porch and had 2 doe followed by a nice buck come trotting through camp about 5-10 feet from the front porch. THey never paid me any attention. It was just funny....

About 8-9 doe and a really nice buck standing on the side of us 67, near the Bono VFD. Outside of Cleburne. Prairie deer. Been driving that road for many years. Deer are expanding their range all through Texas.
Life is too short, as is. Don't chance it. Don't text and drive.

In the middle of Frisco, Tx Saturday morning on Legacy Drive , near Eldorado. Grandson and I were on way to lease ( to hopefully reduce the pig population). It was about 6:30 - 7:00 am and there were about 5 Frisco PD on the side of the road all lit up. A doe had been struck and was laying in the outside lane - still alive but in bad shape. Wondered what happened to her? I can hear the conversations : " We gotta call the GW , but I got dibs on the backstraps!"

Watched a doe walk out of the woods about 30 feet from where we have a diesel tank setup. There was three heavy machines running and two noisy fuel pumps buzzing. Plus an air compressor being started. She didn't even look our way.
We routinely see good bucks closest to the ranch house, while all the "hunters" are out chasing them through creation.

Had a fawn walk up to my uncle's house outside Canton. Walked up to the porch like a lost dog. Let my dad pet it a couple times then took back off into the woods. Would have thought it was someone's pet the way it acted.
Reminds me of another one from years back. Different uncle from East Texas.....Workers were clearing brush, found a fawn made the mistake of picking it up and played with it. Mother never came back for it, uncle took it in. That doe grew up in their laundry room. Played with the dogs, and acted like one. They eventually let it out of the house more and more with a collar and bell around its neck. Ended up disappearing eventually, hopefully it didn't get shot walking up to someone to get fed.

Had a very young 8 point two weeks ago inside my feed pen. Although not an unexpected place it was rather unexpected since me, my wife, and my two oldest kids just finished filling feeders just seconds before he jumped in. We were literally 50 feet from him.
He jumped in, started eating, and ran off when my two year old daughter took off running towards the back of the pen saying "my puppy, my puppy"

Hunting in S Texas parked dads truck about 400 yds from stand and walked in, climbed up in tower stand and opened windows, there were two doe eating corn off the tailgate of the truck (back end of truck was just barely sticking out into sendero where I could see it)
Haven't had it in years but never spit any out. I am a sucker for happy endings and strapped cowboys.

Last Friday a deer crashed into the plate glass window at the National Bank in downtown Gatesville.
Silver spurs and gold tequila keep me hanging on. Pretty girls and old cantinas give me shelter from the storm.

Walked about 300 yards from my truck to the stand. Get up and open all the windows in it and look back at my truck and there was a huge 12 point buck that I had seen before on camera standing right next to me truck. Couldn't believe it

We have a 100 acres up in Wisconsin and my grandfather has pretty much given up hunting, he just goes to the camp to hang out now. When this first started he decided he didn't want to go out that morning and everyone gave him a hard time. Later that morning he opened the front door and shot a doe from the doorway. He was the only one that got anything that weekend.

We had a good buck run through camp after the morning hunt.. all just looked at each other like WTH just happened. Every minute that past, that deer got bigger.. That deer kept growing.. the stories kept getting better with "stickers " and "splits". It became comical, but he was killed the following weekend by a member and we were able to put some proof behind that story..

Saw a buck trying to get into my neighbors screened in porch. Apparently he had come in from hunting and had doe scent on his boots and the buck wanted in.
Sometimes it's hard being me! But somebody has to do it.

Late 80's, hunting Real County. Walked to my bow blind one warm October afternoon, not being particularly quiet, clipped pull line to my bow, climbed ladder (only about a 15-footer), reached down to pull my bow up and a spike was standing at the base of the ladder sniffing my bow.

When I was in high school some buddies and I were quail hunting south of Odessa where loop 338 now is. We were watering our dogs and drinking a beer next to an old barn where we had parked. There were no deer in that part of the country back then. We thought we saw a deer walking across the prairie dog town. It turned out to be an antelope. None of us had ever seen an antelope so naturally we shot it and barbecued it that night. Wasn't bad.
