Put hay in my dog houses last night for first time this Fall. Older dog made circles, and bedded right down. Pups rolled, wallowed, chewed, and tried to drag it out!!

I'll probably get spanked for saying this but I don't go to hay until temps get consistently below 50. Two reasons, an old time trailer told me that 50 degrees never hurt a dog and it gets their winter coat growing as well as just gets them acclimated to the cold weather coming. I think he's right and the mess that hay in the boxes causes for the duration of the winter is something I like to shorten as much as possible. But guess it never hurt one either.
