The other thread got me thinking about it. I often take two rifles to the blind. Typically a bolt action and an AR of some sort. It can be a PITA climbing ladder or stairs with two rifles hanging off my back. Both of the places I hunt are fairly remote and I've often thought about leaving a rifle in a stand over night if I plan on hunting it the next morning. Does anyone to that?
Just to make sure that it is done thoroughly, I go both ways.

Hell no. Not in South Texas!!
If you want some friendly advice, get a haircut and take a bath. You wouldn't get hassled so much.

No, for two reasons.
I never hunt the same stand twice in a 24 hour period. I hunt 26 miles from our southern border.

NOPE, and I'm not close to the border. You just never know when someone might be wondering through your place.

If the property was pretty remote then I may leave it there between morning and evening hunts, but never over night

I have left it over the noon during rain storm before. Don't make it a habit though. Uncle used to leave his all the time. To be fair he hunted out of very sturdy blinds and had a combo lock on the door.

Climbing a ladder you should always have three points of contact, with nothing in your hands. Always use a rope to hoist backpack, rifle, bow etc. Wether climbing a tree stand or a box blind.

unless it's a box blind with stairs, i always use a rope to pull gear and firearms up. if you fall with a long gun slung, you're breaking your firearm or bones or both.
i've left bows in trees and guns in blinds during a mid day break. never overnight for a gun, and i never leave a magazine or ammo if i leave a gun.

Dad used to leave his in the stand all weekend. He always had big nice box stands with a lock on them too though.
Haven't had it in years but never spit any out. I am a sucker for happy endings and strapped cowboys.

Had a bud that left his gun in a nice dry tower blind after morning hunt cause it was storming bad and he didn't wanna get gun soaked on the 3/4 mile hike to his truck. Went back to retrieve gun when storm blew on through......tower had blown down and his tricked out Klinegunther 7mag was severely damaged. He was sick about it. That was 30yrs ago and he still doesn't like talking about it. I still tell him at least you weren't in the blind when it went down. Just one more reason not to leave a gun in blind...

Just to make sure that it is done thoroughly, I go both ways.

Nope. But we also hunt pretty close to our southern border. It's just not worth the risk.

i've left bows in trees and guns in blinds during a mid day break. never overnight for a gun, and i never leave a magazine or ammo if i leave a gun. You need to learn how to fall. Its too easy to fall and not break a bone and never let the gun hit the ground along with maintaining muzzle discipline. Here is an example

No, I keep my rifle(s) with me at all times. To many trespassers these days, illegal or legal. I have several blinds I hunt and might want to change locations if I see something on the way in or pic up a TC card to check it.
Are idiots multiplying faster than normal people?
