I've got a Creedmoor now with a suppressor on the front that's been my go to for the past couple years. I've gotten the bug to find a .257wby and let my son hunt with the Creedmoor. I've got a Vanguard located at a good price but part of me started wondering if I shouldn't just get another Creedmoor to simplify the relading for both guns. If I went with the .257wby, I would eventually put a suppressor on it as well.
Do I stick with the Creedmoor that I know and love or scratch the itch of a .257wby?

I would want the wby. I don't like owning multiples of the same gun.

Scratch the itch, get the 257.
More than once I have owned rifles in the same caliber that didn't like the same loads. Sometimes it does workout well sometimes it doesn't

More than once I have owned rifles in the same caliber that didn't like the same loads. Sometimes it does workout well sometimes it doesn't x2, and if they two don't like the same load its more of a hassle than having a different caliber all together.

I've scratched the itch...by buying a different caliber rifle and scratched it by buying a second in the same caliber. I love the 6.5 Creedmoor and own two of them but they are different. One is my semi custom and the other is an AR. I purposely created two different loads. The custom is a little more accurate but the AR will certainly hold its own. I love shooting with both. My AR tends to be my hunting rifle.

I own both, along with a slew of other calibers. I tend to buy a different caliber every time I purchase a new firearm, for no practical reason other than to have something different. That being said, I much prefer the Creedmoor over the Weatherby. Cheaper to shoot (reloading or factory), short action, efficient cartridge, longer barrel life, more bullet choices, higher BC, more bullet weight, milder recoil (neither one is bad), and the list goes on. Nothing wrong with the .257 Wby. I've killed a pile of game with it, and do enjoy it. I've just changed my ways of thinking ballistically. Speed does kill, but so do a lot of other factors. "I want to go fast" is no longer my driving force behind cartridge selection. I'm not trying to talk you out of buying one by any means, but just giving you my hands on opinion. I completely understand wanting something different, and that itch may not go away unless you scratch it.

If your wife gave you permission to have a go with a pretty 20-something I'm guessing you'd do it. Life is too short to limit oneself to one caliber. Be all means, experiment.

I love my 6.5. Most accurate in the stable, but I just love having a 257 wby. I pulled a barrel off to give to a dear friend, but plan to get that rifle at some point. Go for the 257!

Get both. I've never said I have too many guns. I have 3 243s and I can't think of any reason a fourth wouldn't be better.

Since you like the 6.5s, get the Weatherby and have it made into a 6.5/257 Weatherby Magnum. I sure like mine. Mine is built off of a Vanguard.

Get a 6.5-300 wby. It is a shooting machine.

What's the .257 Weatherby gonna do for you, that the 6.5 Creedmoor won't? Get to 200 or 300 yards .05 second faster? OK, so what?
Super expensive brass, lots more powder to burn for nothing, crap BC, another set of dies to buy. I see no reason to do so.

I don't think there is any comparison the way you asked the question. Go shoot your new creedmoor. Compare the ballistics, then make a cost comparison. I do not like long action hunting rifles at all.

The 257 Why will shoot a 110 gr bullet 3500 fps. A 270 will shoot a 110 gr bullet (Accubond) 3500 fps. The BC favors the Wby, but the diff isn't much. Hard to justify the Wby unless you just want one.
