Putting together a budget bolt gun from a 700 Long Range barreled action. Looking for the lowest cost, functional detachable mag bottom metal capable of accepting AICS mags. I found PT&G and Stockys have a couple options. Wondering if there are any others I should be considering.

If you want to save money I would wait until the Magpul long action bottom metal is out. It's coming just not quite to market yet. Should be about half the price of a PTG.
Just to make sure that it is done thoroughly, I go both ways.

Only problem with the Magpul option is that its actually bottom plastic and not patterned after anything else (eg Badger, CDI, Seekins). So you have to pay a gunsmith to inlet your stock or break out a dremel.

I have used PT&G aluminum and steel. They are much nicer than factory bottom metal. FWIW, I read somewhere that PT&G supplies Stocky's.

So what stock are you putting on it ? That's what I was going to ask too. If you haven't bought a stock yet, you could get an MDT LSS chassis that's ready for AICS mags for $399.
Haha yea I polished that thing for hours.

I've got 3 PTG dbms that I'm completely happy with. What stock are you using? I'm not a Magpul fanboi but if you haven't bought a stock the 700 Hunter is a good economic option.
Just to make sure that it is done thoroughly, I go both ways.

Sorry, I guess I left out some important details. I got the itch for a 300wm again but have a pretty tight budget at the moment. Picked up a 700 Long Range for $629, sold the factory B&C M40 stock and factory bottom metal for $250z I really love the McMillan A5 but way out of my price range for this gun. So Im looking at a Grayboe Renegade which is the same design as the McM A5 at around $350 mark. They come inletted for BDL or Badger pattern DBM which is why Im leaning towards PT&G but wasnt sure if there were any other badger clones out there.
Since its a 300wm, Im trying to stay away from any lightweight chassis or stocks. I have a Magpul 10/22 stock and have held the Magpul 700and they're a little too light. I miss my FN SPR in a McM A5 so Im trying to recreate it at a much cheaper price point!!
