Anyone know a good tick repellent? Deep woods off doesn't seem to really work and I have heard that sulfur powder will kill the kicks but the deer can smell it from a mile away. Is there any solution so that I could kill the ticks without the deer smelling also without bringing fire ants out there. Thx.

Some of the wash in or soak in type products you can apply to your clothes help put, but not sure if deer can smell them or not. I believe most of them are deet based, but some may be other chemicals.

When we used to do fieldwork, we used sulphur powder in a sock. It worked alright, but did not kill ticks, just repelled them. It did well for chiggers, too. It did make everything in the laundry smell like rotten eggs when you washed your clothes after using it, however.
As for smell, deer smell everything from about a mile away, including your OFF, Thermacell, what you had for lunch, etc. The only issue is whether they have come to associate the smell with danger or not.
