I have a 2005 Yamaha Grizzly 660 I never use anymore. But do use a 2008 (purchased from a friend) 2008 Ranger 700. I keep 100 gallons of red diesel on the place, and I HATE ETHANOL! I'm thinking about selling both and getting a new Ranger diesel. 30mph is about as fast as I go anymore.

I drove one around a bit bring hydrostatic I did not care for it. Seemed really sluggish. If I were buying a diesel utv I would put my money on the kubota.

My Kubota will do a hair over 27 mph. Steel dump bed, with hydraulic dump mechanism. Will do either 2wd or 4wd. Glass windshield, with wiper. Roll cage and hard plastic roof. If you want a work machine, there's nothing better. If you want to drive fast and play, get something else.
They also come in the 'wimpy farmer' version, with doors and a/c and heat. I love harassing tlk, cause I know he has one.

Good to know. Trouble is I don't know where the closest Kubota dealer is, and I've got Polaris 20 minutes down the road from the land, and Ag Power 10 minutes from home. Gator diesel?

Kubota dealers are everywhere, but we don't notice them until we need one. You really should go kick the tires in a Kubota diesel UTV before you spend your money.
Only drawback I've found is that it doesn't do well in the mud with the std tires. One good thing is that you won't need to go to the dealer very much. The dang thing is pretty much bulletproof. I bought ours used in about 2006. Still got the same battery. Probably bad luck for me to say that.
I just replace fluids and filters once a year and keep on trucking.
The cup holders will hold a wine bottle. Just sayin...

Six and mango is the kubota dealer around here. I'm not sure about the new gators. But I would still test drive them all to see which one you like best.

Buddy has a Kubota, it's insanely tough, sips fuel, and never has any issues, but we've never gotten it to go faster than 21mph. He strictly hog hunts in his and for that very reason he's moving to crew model for more for his dogs and to be able to run faster. If the low 20's is fast enough for you then it sounds like it might be a good option.

I know two salesmen very well. Service and parts departments there suck. I can go look there, though.

As I understand it, the Kubota's are built like a tractor and don't do well in rough country's? I opted for the diesel Mule even though I have a Kubota tractor and generator.

Forgot all about those! Thanks Scooter! Truly nice machines and I was impressed with the ride and speed, like yourself I have no desire to fly but it had plenty of Pep and he rode right along at the same speed and its a 30 dollar Cab ride to where we were hunting...Milage was impressive and the Cab Space and Seat had me sold... I think that may be my next move when my Ranger goes to that Ranger Place in the Sky I would deal with Nav at J5 just for his service that's just my 10C Sir instead of a local and he would deliver and fix you up. Good Luck Sir

There's a Kubota dealership not far from you in Sherman. I have a diesel Mule. I like the unit's performance but the ride is rougher than I like.

I need smooth off road. The gas Ranger has been fine, and has even pulled the trailers I've asked it to. Just don't like how ethanol goes bad so fast.

The RTVs are like a tractor and the suspension is pretty stiff, but they'll keep on running great forever. My dad had 2 different 900's and only got rid of the first one because his buddy was looking for one just like it. The 2nd one he got had the hydraulic tilt bed, so we swapped the goodies off the old to the new, and sold the old one to his buddy. His were a 2004 and newer one was a 2005 model. We haven't really kept up with the new ones since we've never had an issue with the 2 we had. With that said, stiff suspension...it kind of reminds me of the old h1 hummers. There isn't a whole lot of flex to them and they'll teeter back and forth on extreme terrains similar to those hummers, but will crawl through just about anything the belly pan will clear. They do have the front and rear diff locks and have gotten me out of some pretty rough places. I used to offroad in the RTV quite a bit and put it through it's paces and have only gotten it stuck once and that was high centered. Dad's RTV is slightly stiffer than my 3010 transmule FWIW. As others have said they aren't fast, but will pull any trailer or load you could imagine. We don't really look at the numbers when the manufacture says 1000 lb weight limit (or whatever it is). If it'll pull what we need pulled, then it gets used and I'm sure we've pulled stuff MUCH heavier than the manufacturers specs but it just plugged along like a tractor. If it's too heavy to even move, we'll use a truck or tractor. Oh, and if you haulin the mail down the road and let off the throttle real quick, it might throw you through the front end FYI. The engine braking is very stout, but they do make a coast valve, and its worth its weight in gold. 2 minute swap out. Sorry for the long windedness, but if you want a work rig, I personally don't think you can beat a RTV.

Yup, ZK is right. But you do have to watch what you say about it. Earlier in this chat I said that the battery has never died. And I said "I probably shouldn't have said that". Well, this morning the battery in my Kubota tractor was as dead as a hammer. Not the one in the RTV, but still was a Kubota battery. Shoulda kept my mouth shut. Off to Tractor Supply next. Dang!

Deere has a nice diesel unit also I know your favorite color is green I'd take it over the other two and sit it right up there with ranger Drive Mahindras 1000cc I think you will like it but it's all about what fits you man

The Ranger diesel is sluggish (my buddy has one and its an absolute pig) I hate riding in it, not what I would go with if buying diesel. The Intimindator (now Mahindra) (built by a lawn mower mfg) with the Diesel has a good following. The Kubota RTV is a tractor. Rides like one and pulls like one. I am 2 or 3 years behind on the JD Gator and have not run their diesel version, but their seating arrangement and the foot room/floor board was horrible then (seats were a foot narrower than the body and there was not a comfortable position for my feet on the passenger front position). I would definitely drive them all. I started buying ethanol free gasoline locally for all my small engines. Problem solved.

I certainly don't need a tractor. I like four wheel independent and able to pull a small trailer. The trailer pulling isn't very often. I pretty much use what'll fit in the bed, run up and down the range, and hunt Terrel county for mule deer in it. Pretty much want the pep and smooth ride of a gas, but one that runs on diesel.

Nav, Mahindra's site needs help. I can't find a diesel.
Kawasaki Mule does look really good.
Deere Gators with a diesel seem to be Deere green, slow farm use, not hunting use. Or I'm missing something.

Not sure if any of these places are close to you or not, but I will travel out of my way to get ethanol-free gas, especially for my small engines, etc. http://www.pure-gas.org/index.jsp?stateprov=TX
