I don't recall mentioning recreational hunting. Can you quote that for me? Where I said that.
Or maybe you are just making an assumption and are too stupid to read the comments? Who said it was directed at you or anyone? Self obsess much?

Several years ago in Burnet County, on the NE side of Lake Buchanan, we worked an accident where the driver swore he hit a bear. We laughed and told him the hogs around here get to be the size of bears. The GW arrived to assist and told him there has been no sightings of bears in this area. There was hair on the bumper so he collected the a sample and sent it to the lab. A couple of weeks later he called me and said the hair did come from a bear.

Had a hunter from Alaska sitting in a blind with a thermal scope waiting on some pigs one night. The next day he tells me that he forgot to mention that he saw a black bear walk up to the road and stand up, look around then walk off back into the brush. He thought it was no big deal as he sees a lot of bears back in AK. I let him know that I had never seen one out there before. He swears it happened and he didn't seem to be a liar or crazy. IDK

Black-Bears, are in Irion County. Moving North. Into Sterling, Mitchell Counties. Perhaps; not setting up home-range. But are in the area. They won't hurt you.

Mexican bears apparently are coming across the river. I know 4 years ago. http://www.lmtonline.com/front-news/article_df483d93-21dd-5edc-8f1c-fde3732a1067.htmlAuthorities: Black bear may have come from Mexico Authorities: Black bear may have come from Mexico State game warden Calvin Christian poses with an American black bear that was killed when it was struck by a vehicle on State Highway 83 near the Laredo Community College south campus on Monday. Nobody in the vehicle was injured. (Courtesy photo) Posted: Tuesday, August 28, 2012 12:00 am By JJ Velasquez Laredo Morning Times A black bear was killed Monday night after it was struck by a sport utility vehicle near the Laredo Community College south campus, state officials said. The vehicle heading south on State Highway 83 sustained minor damage, and no one in the vehicle was injured, said Capt. David Murray, Texas Parks and Wildlife Department game warden. The bear was picked up by game wardens at about 10:30 p.m. Black bear sightings are on the rise this year and have been reported in parts throughout the state, according to a Parks and Wildlife news release. State officials say the ongoing drought and wildfires have caused the animals to search uncharted areas for food and water. Murray said Parks and Wildlife law enforcement officials believe that the black bear must have come from Mexico, where the species are more prevalent. “They are suffering the same drought in Mexico just right across the river,” Murray said. “We are seeing some of these black bears going out of their normal habitat in search of food and water.” Earlier this month, Parks and Wildlife officials in Starr County caught and then relocated a young male black bear to West Texas. More familiar habitat exists there than in the Rio Grande Valley.

For the most part black bears are not a major threat to live stock or deer. I grew up around them in NW Arkansas.
To be determined
