No promises, but I think that may work pretty well. You will need to pull down the nests and have some way to wash the spots or the wasps are apt to immediately rebuild in the same spots.
Thermacell seems to work magic for ants in the stand as well.
However, a bug bomb is a better idea for wasps.

Not sure about the thermacell, but I'll second the bug bomb...or 2. I didn't have any red wasps after 2 bug bombs last year. Yes, I know, my windows just leak wasps

Why not just buy a can of wasp spray, wait till it's almost dark, (all will be on the nest then) and spray and kill them all at one time and be done!!

sqiggy, that works good, too. I just don't like it when partially poisoned wasps fly out at me as I am balanced on the steps, LOL.
Sprays also leave a nasty chemical odor for longer than do bug bombs. This may be of no concern in prepping for the season, however, as the smell will go away within a week, if not just a few days.

Get one! I got one years ago and then they came out with one that you could add scent to, those didn't do well on sales so they marked them down to $9.88. I bought 5 more at that price the only difference is they were brown, came with doe scent and scent pads. I just went and bought the reload mosquito repellent kits and was in business. I put them all around when camping or 2 out when on the porch. If it fly's it dies passing through the restricted airspace.
Sometimes it's hard being me! But somebody has to do it.

Try one of these two. I keep them in my stands all year when I'm not there, but swap them out every four months or so.

If just toss in a bug bomb and run ...and make sure the bug bomb is standing upright The first one I ever threw in my stand fell over and just made them mad.

That's why you wait till it's almost dark. Or wait till after dark and use a flashlight. They will stay on the nest while you blast them all. I have some feeders that every year they build a nest just inside the lid. I wait till it's dark, open the lid and kill everyone of them. None will fly off. If you're worried about smell, it will be gone by deer season. Or you can mix up Dawn Dishwashing soap with water in a spray bottle. It even comes in apple scented!! Then, like above, hang a pest strip and they won't come back.

Berryman's B-12 (spray can). Except for gasoline, there isn't anything that drops them faster. If you use the 'straw' attached to the nozzle, it will spray a good stream 5'-6'. All of the wasps will be back on the nest by dark. They will also be present during the cool part of morning (first light). That is a good time to spray them. http://www.autozone.com/fuel-and-engine-...ner/525295_0_0/You hit them with this stuff and they won't be flying toward you or anywhere else, they just drop straight down.

If just toss in a bug bomb and run Absolutely. A Thermacell has no bug killing capability any more than Off kills mosquitos. It simply makes them go away and only while in use.
