I have never seen something so simple as duck hunting tried to be turned into rocket science except here. Ducks get up in the morning and are hungry! From LST until about 8 they are flying around looking to eat. From around then until noon they are looking for loafing and drinking water. From around 1 to 5 they are looking to eat and loaf again, before dark they look for one last drink before they go roost. If your scouting look for dirty water if you want to hunt in the morning, that means ducks are feeding. If the water is clear they are loafing or drinking. Scouting is scouting weather your in a boat or pickup, your still moving and looking for ducks and signes of ducks the same way. You can't forecast the weather tomorrow yet alone what ducks will do 6 months from now! If I had a dollar every time I heard it was going be a bad season I would have a custome boat and just billfish. Every season has its challenges and you have to adapt. Tarpon run starts in a few weeks. See you in the fall

I heard this is gonna be the worse tarpon run in a decade due to the weather in Florida being so mild. Then you have that other nonsense in Louisiana not helping. bunch of debbie downers on here forecasting doom and gloom this fall.

Hey beav, sometimes people want em to get low in the summer time I agree. The ones who can control water in case it wont rain in oct-nov for big ducks On 2 larger ponds north texas, i need water to remain for teal in sept as i cannot control that water. Its loosing 1 inch per day

With the loss of so much agriculture (read food...) over the last 15-20yrs, the number of birds that are simply passing over north Texas or not getting here at all is discouraging at best. And while we still hunt 60+ days a season and have more then our fair share of "good days", the number of "great days" are undoubtably less and less with each new season.

Beav calls it every season. Kinda early this year though. He doesn't usually start predicting the worst season ever until sept or oct. Negative. I predicted a very bad season last year in april This year i predict the same thing for this season, altough it will be dryer here in north Texas. The spring so far in the breading grounds has been very dry and aweful for breeding. It wont surprise me if for example they will put the pintail limit back at 1. Well last years april prediction was about as accurate as can be. We shot 30% more ducks w 15% less hunts last year. Not as much Green late- but more teal, red heads

Regardless, I'll be out there sitting by my mud-hole, blowing hailing calls so loud you'll be able to hear me two counties away and shooting at ducks (or black specks in the distance that could be ducks). Why? Because I'm a duck-COMMANDER and it's just what I do.
