While I admit the shot was lethal I chuckle that the commentator boldly exclaims that we love using air rifles on hogs in America. I love killing pigs but not with pellets.....

Their brain is the size of a quarter?
People sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf

Their brain is the size of a quarter? that's what I said If you ever get the chance to hunt pigs with an air rifle you should. Not talking about pellet guns either LOL. It's just another fun/different way to hunt them. The air rifle that I had experience with was the Benjamin Rouge in 357 caliber. I posted several videos of hunts with it a few years ago. Hated stalking with it though because it was big and heavy, fun to shoot though.

We do everything we can to keep them under control and the population just keeps growing... Uh, No, especially not if you are using air rifles, LOL. flintknapper has some great pics from a thread on this other forum... http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=449721&page=30If you are shooting a young hog like the one shown, then yeah you are looking at something that might be ping-pong ball sized. The brain is probably closer in size to a chicken's egg or a small peach, so much larger than a quarter in adult hogs, LOL

For English shooters, America is almost an impossible paradise. Firearms are cheap, hunting is accessible, restrictions are modest and you have permission to buy almost anything that you can afford. What he means to say is that if you're into shooting hogs with high powered pellet rifles, you're allowed to do so here and there's no public stigma within the hunting community. Of course, here in Texas, shooting hogs out of helicopters with machine guns is widely admired, especially if you managed to convince the wife it was a reasonable way to spend $2500 for a 2 hour hunt.

A Marauder in .25 cal is a pretty potent gun, it will do much of what we ask a 22r to do. It also does it much quieter. I really want one!

My son dispatched one in a large circle trap Saturday night with a single shot between the eyes with his Umarex .177. It looked like something from a cartoon...pig went stiff on a all 4 legs and just fell over dead. We kicked ourselves for not running video of it.

American Air Arms I have been watching this air rifle as it was and is being developed. The valve design is unique and revolutionary for pcp rifle design. The developer has intentions to build it in .308 caliber in addition to the .357 caliber. I am wondering what the differences might be between the two caliber choices? I would think the trajectory would be flater for the .308 over the .357.

I'd like to have one of the big-bore air rifles but they're so expensive!!

I'd like to have one of the big-bore air rifles but they're so expensive!! It is all relative. Sub-sonic ammo can cost over $2.50 a shot. If you compare that with the the cost of air and lead you will get the picture of the economics for this type of rifle. The payback starts at around 1000 rounds, even though this is a $2000 rifle. The only thing I would change is to get away from the bullpup design. I don't like the idea of all that pressure next to my cheek. I can't wait to try it out with my Resolute Night Vision scope.

I have heard it said by knowledgeable men, you can take game that weigh up to the FPE of the gun. Based on my best guess that Gamo shoots at less than 30FPE. That looked about right for the hog in the video don't you think? At my place I have never seen a hog that small. Everything we have has been 80+ lbs. Heck we have coons that weigh more than 30 lbs.
I'm still waiting on the .308HP Slayer Rifle to come available. Website says April but I guess that has slipped.

female brain could be the size of a quarter And Thank God for that! They use BOTH sides of their brain and are pretty much always scheming something. It could be argued...they don't need a bigger brain since they use what they have so efficiently, at least I can see my Wife claiming something like that.

Their brain is the size of a quarter? No. Not a mature pig anyway. This should give you an idea of the size of the brain pan of a mature feral hog.
