Well a couple times a year for special occasions we try to hit up the finer steak houses. On is date we hit up Knife in Dallas. Before going it has an average of 4+ stars on most review sights
Here is a breakdown of my experience on a 5 star vote. This is all opinion
Ease of reservation - 5 Appetizer- Bigeye Tuna Tartare $21 It was very good - 5 House breads free - several choices , sour dough and pretzel our favorites - 4 Girly Drink - $12 good but small - 4 Mac n Cheese - $12 absolutely by far the worst excuse of mc, Kraft is better - 0 Avocado fries - $10 very meh and bland - 1 Heartbrand Ranch Dry Aged Bone-in Akaushi Rib Eye 32 oz for 2 -$110 lots of wasted meat due to fat, excessive salty, final portions were small for the excessive price. It was worth $50 maybe. I honestly would rather have outback. - 2 Service - I would say we got stereotyped because we didn't dress the part as others. It wasn't bad but it wasn't top end steak house service. The guy that fills water was spot on. - 2.5 Atmosphere- Tight, loud, line chefs visible, tables to close, wasn't good for a special occasion, hotel bar attached to the restaurant. - 2
So overall for 1 app, 1 drink, 2 sides, 1 shared two person steak total with tip was $206
I wouldn't say it was totally bad but it wasn't worth the money compared to other steak houses in Dallas. I would say our bill should have been half. That would be closer to the fair value IMO. So when I go somewhere new I always ask myself when we are done, "would we come back"? At this time I wouldn't go back on my dime and I would not recommend it for a special occasion.

I was hoping you would have a better experience and the food would be better - didn't want to pooh-pooh on the idea given the occasion and your friend's recommendation so I tried to be soft in my opinion in your Off Topic thread. Being positive - it could have been worse!
Cheers - Mickey

I can say I tried it. I have a couple more to try before just sticking with old faithful Del Friscos

A friend from church took the wife and I to Palominos for my birthday. From what he told us he's eaten there almost 100 times if not more, I had to admit the food was excellent. When I was in high school I work at the King's Club at the Adolphus Hotel downtown with my stepdad, so that's who I usually compare food and service to.

I took my wife to the Wildcatter Ranch Steakhouse in Graham last night and it was great. If I lived in Dallas and wanted to get away for a night I'd book a room at the ranch and eat at the steakhouse.

I have been to Knife twice. I would give it a solid 3.5 out of a 5 scale. The tables are too close together, the steaks are good but not outstanding, the service is good, the wine list is excellent, the sides and desserts are OK. I don't think I would go again. My favorite is Stephan Pyles. Al Biernet's cooks a good steak with a good wine list.

Haven't been there.
Capital Grille was one of my top meals though. Will have to try Del Frisco's as everyone keeps raving about it.

The best steakhouse I've ever been to was Al Bernat's. Better than Del Frisco's in my opinion.

When you order at Del Frisco, tell em not to add ANY salt
Most of their dishes are extremely salty
