Does anyone ever end up with snakes in their blinds? What is the best way to keep them from getting in there. Been lucky not to ever have one in there but since I am hunting in Texas I don't want to crawl in my blind one morning and have a snake staring me in the face.
Anyone can shoot a hog but it takes balls to catch one.

I have had them crawl through the window and come in from under the ground flap into the blind before. I don't think you can keep them out if you have a dirt floor. My wood box blinds have no problems, just the pop ups.

just have to check before you enter. snakeaway and mothballs not only dont work, but will leave a heavy scent as well. even off the ground some will climb vertical to check for bird nests. be aware that they could be around and pay attention. dont reach into a blind without checking thoroughly

Had snakes in a couple blinds in the past, the sulphur pellets from Tractor Supply were applied around and in the blinds in August the following year and same time in the years since. Haven't seen a snake in the blinds since. Not sure if it really has worked or just haven't had snakes that interested in the blinds but it is not that expensive to try and for 3 years no snakes so think I will continue. Also doesn't seem to have affected deer traffic around the blinds. Still check them before entering just in case.

I use mothballs under the trailer but only helps a little, but always see mouse crap in the trailer each time I go hunting for a weekend. Bounce sheets inside the camper also helps some when leaving for the week.

Just carry a flashlight and check the inside before entering.

Do like I did, don't fix the broken window from the storm and let a owl move in...no more snakes, or wasp for that matter. Now I have to chase an owl out of my blind and try to make it halfway huntable again. Lotta poop.

get the blind off the ground.. rarely a problem then... if so its usually just a friendly chicken snake.. iv herd of one rattler crawling up a elevated blind but I think it was lost
I hunt mostly lock on stands now.. found out chicken snakes and timber rattlers like to wrap their self's around cedars to wait for squirrel and birds... thankfully the one I grabbed crawling up my tree one morning was a chicken snake

Never had another one sense. Most of the commercial products seem rather bogus as do 'remedies' such as mothballs and sulphur. Snake-away is a lot of mothball and sulphur, LOL. http://www.snake-removal.com/repellent.html

That video was pretty conclusive. Snake repellent is a crock of hooey.

If hunting out of a pop up and a pop up that has flaps/skirt - bury the flaps/skirt. That's what I do with mine. I've never had a problem, but I have only seen three snakes on my property. One in a tank, one high tailing it away from me and one hidden under a log I was moving. I also always check the blind before going in just to be sure.

Since I have started putting carpet down and setting the pop up on top of it I haven't had any snakes. Sandy soil is bad about copperheads. Have had them a few times.

Put a couple golf balls around your blind, you will find out if you have snakes.

I don't worry about snakes, its spiders I don't like. I'll bomb a stand before season and that works.

No Pest Strip for wasps and other flying insects. Tight door seal & closed windows for everything else.

Put a couple golf balls around your blind, you will find out if you have snakes. I think we all already know we have snakes around our blinds. Our blinds are out in nature. Snakes are in nature. So, snakes will be around the blind from time to time. That is a given. The question is whether or not they are in the blind when one of us goes inside to hunt...

This deer stand is about 18" off the ground in the shade of a cedar tree. It's and older stand and isn't very air tight anymore. This stand has traditionally had mice in it as well. Photo was taken during spring turkey season, not deer season.

It's a shame as that one wouldn't hurt you but was keeping the varmints out of your blind.
