Y'all may remember a while back ErathKid killed a bruiser of a buck down around New Braunfels on his FIL's lease. Well he got the mount back and man is it a beauty.

Beautiful buck. That's the pinnacle of what this area produces.

Thanks Scott. Killed him on December 26, the day of the tornadoes. Wasn't feeling real shiny after the Christmas party the night before. The Wife told me in no uncertain terms, "you're going out to the deer lease with Dad". OK. That settles it then. The place had been flooded by Blieders creek most of the season, and hadn't been hunted at all. FIL said to shoot a doe or a buck for meat. Having hunted this place for 17 years I knew not to expect much. Lots of deer, but no trophies
Walking to the stand I noticed a couple of 3" diameter huisache trees were torn to shreds. The hair on the back of my neck stood up. This was the work of a big buck. Got in the blind and it starting to hail, just great, tornado warning in Lampasas. Ready to give it a rest when the feeder went off. I looked up from the THF and saw deer trotting out of the woods. 2 young bucks, then out of the corner of my eye saw a doe with this big bastage sniffing her hind end. I put an earplug in my left ear, raised my gun out the window, aimed and shot. 30 yards and he did a backflip and lay still. My best buck to date. From Comal CTY, no less. Whodathunk?

Thanks again, everyone. My Wife is so happy because she thinks I'll never be able to top this deer, so no more $500 dollar taxi bills. I didn't have the heart to tell her that our high fence neighbors with the 250"-300" bucks, have had a blown out watergap for the past 6 months ....Any guesses on score? I honestly have no idea. He's just a pretty deer.

I wish I could say it was something special that I did. Right place at the right time I guess. I did know to keep the wind in my face, walking into the woods though.

I remember this deer from when you killed him Erath, hell of a buck. I dig him. Assessing score will depend on his body weight. Did y'all weigh him? I know from experience these Comal Co. bucks will sometimes have smaller bodies, making their antlers look even more impressive (not that he needed any help in that area). If you have some basic measurements like inside spread, length of beams, etc it would help for scale too. Looks to have great tine length. But, just from a quick look I would think he pushes into the low-140s Gross. Fine buck sir

Yep, that is an outstanding trophy buck. Gross score 156, I would guess. Those G-3s are like sabres!

Field dressed #112. Not huge, but pretty good for the area.

Inside spread is only 16" believe it or not. Left g3 is 10", right g3 is 10.5" right main beam is 19", left main beam is 19.5" g2s are a little harder to score, at least for me. 4" diameter main beams. 3" dogcatchers.

Based on the above I stand by my first estimate, think he shakes out something like this: Mass: 28 Tines: 98 (including 6.5" in non-typ points) Spread: 16 Sum: 142" gross, 138.5 net Heck of a LF Hill Co buck.
