Had the grandkids for a little bit this evening, Grammy picked them up from daycare. Out of the blue, while the toddling (this week) little girl is getting a bath with Grammy, my grandson tells me we shouldn't "cook deer meat". Apparently "Ford's dad" hunts and "Miss Mary Jane" (alpha female type that is over his daycare class) said "we shouldn't cook deer meat 'cause it makes the other deer sad." These kids are 4! The times I've been to their little classroom all the little tikes look scared you-know-what-less to get in trouble.
I'm beyond pissed. My only hope is that "Ford's dad" hears about it. I informed my daughter as soon as she got here. She said he'll be moved out of there soon. I'll be doubling my child's camo clothing purchases for this boy.
I know, I know, the "indoctrination" will just be ramping up from here on out. Of course, there's gonna be a helluva lot more important subjects than hunting to make sure this boy knows his parents and his grandparents don't necessarily believe the same on every subject as his teachers tell him.

I think I would have to ask her when and where, she was taught lying was part of child education?? I'd have to ask her boss the same, board if they have one..Also I'd love to hear her evidence of deer emotions outside of the movie BAMBI, she does realize that was a cartoon??

Sad deer taste the same as happy deer. Well done Creekrunner, we must stay diligent in our counter-indoctrination!!!!!

That teacher needs to go. I would have to put the hammer down on the day care owner.

I would go have a talk with them. I'm quite sure they won't hold their ground, especially when you remind them of how many animal products they use every single day.

Ignunt people are a fact if life. And in fact life would be a little less entertaining without them. That said, it's a pain to have to worry about that kind of BS so early.
I can assure you, as their grand dad you will have a larger and a more lasting influence on them. Make hunting fun, start early, shoot little stuff, eat it with them, (I make it all taste like chicken nuggets), and show your excitement about killing and eating your own healthy food. My grandkids live for killing their own meat. And every time they have show and tell at school, they take animal pieces and parts that they have kept as trophies. You know, rabbit tails, squirrel tails, feet, skulls etc.
My daughter and grandkids have instructions to "blame it on their grandpa" if any teacher or school official ever gives them grief. Complete with my phone number. Never been called yet. Sadly.

Just swing by the teacher's office and invite her to a PETA meeting ... PETA being People Eating Tasty Animals I guess cooking beef, pork, chicken, turkey, fish, etc. makes the other cows, pigs, chickens, turkeys, fish sad? Maybe cooking potatoes, squash, tomatoes, beans, etc. makes the other sad too. what about wheat, oatmeal, etc.?

I was going to say the same thing. I guess people think that everything they eat originates from the grocery store.

I would make sure those grandkids take home cooked venison meals to eat during their lunch break as often as I could.

I had made some fajitas one time and took to a small get together that we had at church. There was a young mother that was loving the food. She actually went back for seconds. One of the guys that knew me asked me if it was venison, like deer meat, because he knew that that was about all I ever cooked. I said yes sir. The young mother over herd what was said. Looked like she turned green, pushed the plate back and left the table. Go figure.

yep, grocery stores have non-sadden meats ... I actually had a very liberal friend tell me hunting/killing for food was wrong and I should buy my meat at the grocery store. ... my response to her was "where do you think meat in the grocery store comes from?"

Several different places I've read, whether youtube comments, vitriol about a PH friend of mine getting killed in Africa, etc., people making references to an animal's "family". Human's are the only ones with families. A pack, pod, herd is not a "family". Animals only think (and "think" isn't even the right term - just "wired" is probably better) about surviving themselves. Of course, they care for their young, but to call them a "family" is very sadly naïve. They do not "think" or care about a single other adult of their own species. Doubly sad...I think we're becoming more like them every day.

Well all the other animals must get sad also, chickens, cows, pigs etc. Oh ya don't forget that the plants get sad when another plant is harvested. Maybe she should look at the big picture and realize all the sadness she creates when she eats and just vow to never eat again. Then the problem is solved.

If they open ivory import back up from Zimbabwe, they're going back on my list. Legal hunting is vital to keeping elephant numbers UP. Yes, I said up. Kenya outlawed hunting in '74 and the elephant numbers plummeted as the poachers (and Kenya's president) got rich.

I think they are probably the closest to "family emotional ties" there is in the animal kingdom, at least from what I have heard and read, may be fallacy. BTW, I had forgot about your buddy, didn't mean to make it look like I was drawing a parallel.

That doesn't even make sense. Meat is meat. I doubt that any animal is "happy" about being eaten, what difference has that ever made?

2nd place gets sad, doesn't mean that no one should get first. Someone has got to lose. The world is developing too many feelings and victims. Worried for my 2 yr old little girl.
