You do know that there is a binding agent in pellets? When they get rained on and wet, that will look like a bowl full of oatmeal. I like it though...even if you built it first but don't know how your are going to attach it to the feeder yet....

Its complicated...I am thinking of cutting off that elbow and pipe and putting a piece of Rebar in concrete under the feeder and having it suspended from the ground See that 90 degree elbow...thinking about cutting it off there and leaving a straight pipe and it falls down into the tray... Man I have the creative juices flowing

Looks good scooter, I'd have to imagine though, that somethin shallower with more surface area would be better

Use a chain at all 4 corners.. that way its not stationary and you can flip it over an dump it out when needed

Man I have the creative juices flowing With it being so small and very deep I would not mount it under that pipe if you cut the 90 off. I would be more worried about velvet antler damage from bucks to trying to eat out of it. If you are going to cut the 90 off then I would scrap this "trough" and just put a piece of plywood or flat plate table under the feeder for deer to eat the feed off of. Looks good scooter, I'd have to imagine though, that somethin shallower with more surface area would be better Oh now you did it. He is rethinking this epic build it first without designing it first "trough". Those creative juices just soured.

I'm glad you're too stingy to by a Lamco, thus keeping us entertained. I can't wait to get a picture of a corn vulture roosting in your new build. Of course you may get the last laugh when you sell the blueprints to your buddies at WGI!

Scooter, if it doesn't work as planned, you can gift it to STX this holiday season as a hat

I've used flat plates, even lids off of 55 gallon drums before and the deer do fine. I have taken flanges for stove pipe and run three or for screws in it to hold it around the feeder mechanism so when it slung the protein it dropped straight down and it worked well. I have two of the flange mounts for roof vents that I had to replace a friend and I are going to do this with here in a couple weeks.
