I need a soft case long enough for a precision rifle 45". I've been scouring the internet and there's so many options. Just need something lightweight, cheap and functional. I already have a pelican case but it's too big, heavy, and a PITA to transport.
I've been looking at the MidwayUSA drag bags pretty heavily.

I've got 3 of those Midway heavy duty soft cases and like everything about them except the lack of external storage pockets. There's one zippered pocket that's large enough for 2 boxes of ammo and little else. I too have been eyeballing their drag bags (not for dragging, just for transport), so if you end up with one, please post a report.
Silver spurs and gold tequila keep me hanging on. Pretty girls and old cantinas give me shelter from the storm.

I'm in your same boat. I've been looking high and low at different bags to fit my 45" rifle.
I've looked really hard at the Voodoo cases, as I like all of the external pockets for mags, silencer, ammo, etc. But I've read a lot of people are having issues with the stitching or lack-there-of.
5.11 makes a sweet 50" "Urban Sniper bag" but they are definitely proud of it.

I use the midway drag bag and really like it. Lots of pockets only think I wish was different is the handle location. With 2 rifles it gets front heavy when carrying it to the side.

I guess I am the only one that just tosses my rifle in the back seat. I only use a hard case if any and thats only when I have to.

I'm not sure exactly how long my rifle is but i know it's too long. it has a 26" barrel and the case/bag i use is the following. http://www.galatiinternational.com/product/SM4812O.htmlIt's probably overpriced but it's one of the only bags available that can hold my rifle and the shooting mat is quite comfortable (but I have nothing else to compare it to since i've tried others).
I'm a dude who likes long barrels!

Like the Midway drag bag, used it for a week of shooting in the rain. Worked great as a shooting mat, then tossed gun inside and moved to next station then back to laying on it. It has places for bipod legs which was great. By them time I was done using the outside pockets were full of mud, as was the inside, and the zipper had failed by day 3. I contacted Midway and they gladly accepted it back, and then wrote me an email saying they have never seen their drag bag used in such a condition. Thanked me for using it to the extreme and sent me a new one.

I have a bag similar to the one above. The only problem I've had with it, probably a fluke, I was pulling it off the back of a golf cart by one of the "back pack" style straps and the male end ofthe plastic snap-buckle broke and flew across the parking lot. I replaced both buckle sets with with small stainless H-buckles and have been fine with it since. With two rifles and some gear it can be heavy.

I have one of these that I got from Amazon. Used it once so far and pleased with the way it holds the rifle secure and is padded well. http://ncstar.com/vism-product/product-detailVISMSG.aspx?ModelNo=CVSM2913B&GroupNo=0

I suppose there are other good quality bags out there, but I'm pretty stuck on VooDoo.

I have had 5 of the Midway drag bags and still have two. Only issues I have had is zipper pulls break off.
I have given a couple away to friends and a customer.
