Hi All, I have a question on when you set up and tend to see more birds.... Ive been going in the middle of the day for the last couple years and have had success..... Some folks go in with headlamps before light... a few friends hunt them like deer... early or late..
What do you all do ? and why

Opening day I archery hunt in a pop up and stay out all day. Most of my birds are harvested between 9:00 and 3:00.

We hunt them all day long and have killed them at all hrs of daylight. Typically we know where were gonna start in the mornings and move around all day calling & listening for a response then we'll set up and work the bird.
No doubt about the AR crap, just damn shame hunters don't have self control and knowledge

No doubt...nothing more thrilling than calling a gobbler off the roost straight to your set-up, but it don't always work out. Proof was in the pudding this Saturday morning. I watched a gobbler fly up Friday morning from a ranch road and was there the next morning. I called him straight to me...unfortunately he pitched out onto the neighboring property...and had to let him walk. Made a quick move and finally sealed the deal on another bird early afternoon.
Until it gets hot, gobblers will be moving most all day and are eager to find a mate.

My favorite is calling them off the roost when they have a gobbling explosion the second you chirp the call. That was how it was for my wife's first bird. She had always said turkey hunting looked boring on television. I kept telling her, "yeah yeah whatever, you wouldn't say that when you hear them thunder gobble a whole river valley". So when these birds answered all at once, she lost her kewl. She asked while she was shaking "Do you think they are coming"? It was a minute later one was headed up out of the river bottom to us. I could see her heart beating in he back. She got it done!

I head out around 7:30 to 8:30 in the morning depending how late I was up the night before around the campfire. Come in 11:30 and go back out after lunch then another break and back out at 4 but we shoot them all hours of the day. 2:30 pm today. I have never hunted a roost though.

I love turkey hunting in the spring. Sleep in and get out after first light. Listen for gobblers and head their way. Call them in any time mid-morning till mid-afternoon

I see most of my birds a couple of hours after sunrise and then again a couple of hours before sunset. I rarely see birds early in the morning, BUT I still get out there before shooting light because I hear the most gobbling around the first hour of light and that makes it worth getting out early.
