This is my first AR style rifle and I want the .308 version so I can use it s as a long range hunting rifle. But, I also want the versatility to use it as a hog eradication device on my lease. Struggling to decide on barrel length, 16.5, 18 or 20 and MFG, looking at Windham Weaponry as they seem to be good quality at fair price. Thank for your input.

I worked up a load with 155 gr TMK and IMR 8208.
16" barreled DPMS Recon, and a Tiger Shark suppressor makes 2600 fps, MV. I ran it 200 to 800 yards, on steel, without a miss. I really like the 16" barrel, and the rifle is only 10 pounds without ammo and scope. That is significantly lighter and shorter than my bolt action rifles.

Like Jason I've ran mine from 200 out to 800 on steel although I did have several misses during this process LOL. I was running bulk 168AMAX at 2510FPS.

Agree with the 16" barrel. It's plenty. I also agree with the DPMS, but I would clarify that with the G2 models (I like the Recon). The G2 line opens up access to lots of AR15 accessories (trigger groups, etc.).

I too have a 16in barreled rifle. Rock River LAR-8. Also have a RR LAR-15 and have been very happy with the quality and accuracy although I havent shot either of them out more than 150 yrds +/-. No reason to think they couldnt go much further though, but my bolt guns fill that role...

I pulled the proverbial trigger today and came home with a PWS MK216. I can't wait to get to the range and try this puppy out. Anyone have experience with PWS or this specific model?

That is not a 2nd rate rifle, should do everything you will need.

Had a PWS Mk116 in 300 Blackout. Loved it. The Mk216 was on my shortlist before I found a helluva deal on a CMMG CBR. Pics please.

Anyone out there experience an issue where their rifle will not cycle a particular ammo. I'm still working with PWS on this issue, but as av relatively high end rifle I expected it to eat through anything. I have a couple battle packs of FNM 82-11 ammo that just jams on every round. Let me know.

Is it steel case ammo? That can be a problem for many rifles.

All brass case. Basically, every round fires, but during the cycle process I seem to get a good extraction but the a jam on the feed. The new cartridge comes in front of the bolt while the empty case has not ejected resulting in the empty case getting jammed between the bolt and the throat of the barrel and the new cartridge wedged in there as well.

DPMS. The ones I've seen run well and aren't too expensive.
The secret to a long life is to try not to shorten it.

Try a different magazine and ammo. Try out some good quality match grade ammo. If you still have problems PWS will take care of you. Ive heard if the same issue in a PWS MK214 and it ended up being a headspace issue if I recall. In any case, PWS rectified the issue quickly.

Can you post a of the picture of what it looks like after firing a shot, showing the cases jammed in there together? Also if you put one round in the mag and shoot does the bolt lock back on the empty magazine?
