Found a dead coyote on my land today. Previous owners had an issue with poachers. Is there anything other than humans that we have in the central Texas area that are a threat to coyotes? Or could I need to start watching for poachers again.

Could have been shot elsewhere, hit by a vehicle, etc.

I haven't been in the woods in a few days. He was pretty picked apart and couldn't tell if there was bullet holes or any obvious damage. He was pretty ripe though.
That's a good point aeb.

Cyanide gun or poison baits might also be in play

Poison would be my guess. What ever or who ever is is good.

Animals have a life span just like us. In the wild that is going to be shorter than a dog. If it was picked apart already when you found it, it could have died by or from just about anything. Maybe a Chupacabra got it.
