Anyone know if they are still open and have a .30 cal+ restriction? I dont frequent their range much, probably been 7 years, but i have a bunch of stuff gng on in the area today and figured I could get a few rounds down range.

They are still open, and believe the 30 cal restriction (believe no 50 cal is still in effect) has been removed. And I would say the last year or so their "customer" attitude has been much improved. Used to be a bunch of "I'm the boss, do as I say" aholes as range masters, but I have noticed a much improved group out there lately.

Made it out there today. The range officers have definitely lightened up although now there are idiots that dont listen. Saw 3 idiots messing around their benches during cease fire with ppl down range. Ive always felt uneasy at that range and still do.

I've had 2 situations where shooters muzzle swept me with a loaded or jammed weapon. RO's not present, and didn't care. I've seen the worst firearms safety issues at that place. I'll never shoot there again. It's not worth it.

I was there saturday to sight in my .308 and .338 Lapua
place was packed tight, range officers were nice , polite to everyone
always run into a few that messes with the bench, newbies... lots of them
it's a lot better managed now than 1996

The range is close to the house, but I rarely go there and when I do it is during the week. Weekends are crowded with some patrons that either don't know gun safety or care.
The last few years the only times I have shot there are during the Summer and during the week. Numerous times I have been the only one on the range,

I'll never shoot there again. It's not worth it. The time I shot there previous to yesterday I was shooting on the pistol range and there was a guy that decided to shoot puddles. Problem is....he was shooting puddles 4-5 lanes to the right of him that were only 15ft out.

Unfortunately most of us have to count on public ranges. I go to Garland allot always on Saturdays. They have one big ugly RO who will NOT put up with ANY B.S. He has no problem yelling LOUDLY at idiots who just can't obey the rules. , I ALWAYS have my head on a swivel at any range I'm shooting at. Just a good practice to understand nobody knows what they are doing. same at Frisco gun club and any retail stores I frequent. too many AD's even at JG's match.....keep eye out, Chad will eat your azz. last year some dumbazz set his expensive rifle on the back of an ATV , the rifle slipped off and the owner spent all morning cleaning mud out of the muzzle brake. WAIT, that dumazz was ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I live minutes from that range and haven't been there in years. There are plenty of gun clubs to join so you don't have to deal with idiots like frequent that range.
Buzz - you need a gun club. Remind me Saturday and we'll talk and find you one.

Saw 3 idiots messing around their benches during cease fire with ppl down range. Ive always felt uneasy at that range and still do. I go when it rains on weekdays. Only the serious shooters show up then, no BS. I've had the whole range to myself a couple of times -- especially when the temperature drops.
