Kinda curious about this rifle. Would like to have a couple barrels to change out. What can you tell me about it, experiences, pros, cons, quality any pertinent info. Thinking smaller calibers like 22-250 range.

I am not a fan. Never owned one but the few I have seen are marginal when it comes to accuracy. Plus I am not a fan of the "kit gun" look.
IMO their popularity is the product of relentless celebrity marketing. Kudos to them, but good marketing does not make a good rifle.
Others swear by them and will disagree, as I'm sure you will see.
I learned long ago you can't reason someone out of something they don't reason themselves into.

Don't currently have an Encore but I do have several Contenders in various configurations. Very accurate and reliable.
Just to make sure that it is done thoroughly, I go both ways.

Had one, not for me. Didn't like the hammer, trigger pull etc
I think there are some bolt guns with inter changeable barrel systems now

There are several bolt guns with interchangeable barrel systems. Most will cost you more than the Encore.
I have one Encore with 2 barrels 22-250 and 50cal front stuffer. Accuracy with me shooting it is around MOA just a little over or under depending on the day.
Over all a good system much like their older Contenders it is a good way to have multiple calibers without the outlay for multiple rifles and you don't mind single shots. With the short action length you can have a long barrel for extra velocity or talk about a handy truck or blind length gun put a 16 inch barrel one it. Versatility is a big part of the equation when talking Encore and Contender setups but they can be a money pit when buying new barrels in different calibers. Been there done that

I think there are some bolt guns with inter changeable barrel systems now I have the Eabco Oversized Hinge Pins and recrown the barrel drop the triggers to a pound-pound and a half and I use the little Hammer extensions... makes a already tight shooter just a little tighter

Others swear by them and will disagree, as I'm sure you will see. Center fire Mine is sub MOA. Both my buddies are Sub MOA. Will they out shoot the majority of my bolts... No but they are competing with literally 1/2 MOA or smaller bolts. Only thing about a hammer gun is lock time is longer then traditional bolt. I bought mine because I hunt ML season in Oklahoma a lot. I also like the absence of an action making a 26" barreled rifle 6-7" shorter in normal action rifles. Lots more pluses to an encore then minuses. Especially if you want a light backcountry rifle or capitalize on a calibers strengths via barrel length. Not for you cool, so people don't like lever guns, etc... No big deal

I use one almost exclusively. The lock time is a little different than you have with a bolt action but have never had an issue. Good form alleviates that issue. I like the capabilities of being able to switch barrels and have a choice of calibers, rifle or pistol.

I have an older one set up as a pistol. Only complaint would be the trigger pull which is fixable. I have not bothered mostly because I cannot find the time or opportunity to use my rifles.
If you get into one couple of good sites; EDSTC for barrels and parts and Greybeard's forum has active encore/contender forums.

I use encore and contender rifle and pistol set ups 90% of the time. Very accurate and versatile. I only wish I would have known about them years ago.

If you get a rifle in anything larger than a .308, you're going to really want a muzzle brake or a recoil pad/shoulder pad. I had two in 30-06, a 45-70 barrel, and a .308, and they would beat you like a red headed stepchild.
The secret to a long life is to try not to shorten it.

I have had many but have two right now. 338 wm and 22-250. Both tack drivers and easy moa. Easy to carry and easy in the stand. 338 is a hog killer.
My son in law has one in 300 wm. three shoots will touch each other at 100 yards.
I with they made a barrel in 338 Lapua. Is be all over that.
I once drank muddy water out of a hoof print and was dang glad to get it.

I had a Pro Hunter in 20 ga rifled barrel and it was very muzzle "flippy". I would shoot and that thing would jump all over the place. I know my way around a rifle and I know how to shoot, but I could never figure out how to shoot the danged thing accurately and keep the scope with 3.5" of relief from beating my brow to a pulp. That thing got sold.

I have used the TC Contender as a pistol extensively - but the idea of a break-open rifle just doesn't float my boat.
It seems to me that one would work out well in lighter chamberings like 243, 257 Roberts etc. for a short, handy still-hunting or stand rifle.
There are many other rifle designs that I would really prefer though, to tell the truth.
Kind regards, charlesb

My interest in this type of rifle is a slow fire, concentration type of shooting. I have enough gas guns to equip a platoon and bolt actions to reach length and accuracy. I'm thinking about a fun easy going rate of fire. I have 3 calibers i really enjoy 22cf's, 6.5CM(gotta love it) and the king of the hill .308. The two barrels would be a 22 CM and another 6.5CM.

I have two barrels. .243 and .22-250. Both are well sub MOA at 100 yards. The trigger is the biggest issue but there are solutions for that as well. The only other issue for me is weight. Not a gun I would tote up in the mountains for elk. However I've made two kill shots over 250 yards with my .243 barrel. I shot silhouette competitions from years with contender pistols so the action, trigger and lock time are not an issue for me. However I seldom hunt mine any more because my bow and my AR get the most field time.

Others swear by them and will disagree, as I'm sure you will see. Same as above except I have owned several. Triggers are bad to marginal, accuracy is usually over moa. Plus to hunt with a single shot is to slow on follow up shots. People will argue that they can reload just as fast as a bolt but that is BS. Most that shoot them boast that they don't need a second shot, which we all know is BS at some time or another.

The recoil didn't bother just not as accurate as my sendero so I dumped it. I'll never have another one.

Would it be possible to rechamber a .243 to a 6.5CM?

EABCO is pretty big into Encores and 10/22s. Good luck.
