Thinking of putting one on a 20" ar-15. Pros/Cons, using rile for varmints.

I have one on my Grendel. I like it.
If I could change one thing, it would be more adjustment on the LOP. It would be nice to have it shorter for smaller framed shooters to be more comfortable, but it has plenty of adjustment for any adult over 5' or so.

I have one on a 24" 308 AR. I like it.
Once you get it tuned for your melon, you should find that getting situated is almost instantaneous.

Sneaky,I found where magpul has a thicker butt pad, maybe that should help.

I have one. To me....it makes sense on a bench/spr type rifle. It is not collapsible and LOP doesn't offer much on the short side. For me, it is only comfortable shooting bench, prone, or any position I can get behind the gun. The second I pick it up to shoot off hand the LOP doesn't allow me to get behind it but instead across the body.
My next favorite stock is the UBR. It is one of the toughest stocks on the market, collapsible.

I see, so a 6ft guy should be ok. I have a couple with the Ace long Skeleton stock and it fits really nice for offhand shooting.

Good for bench/prone.
Wasn't very comfortable holding it in a weird position in a blind or resting the rifle against skinny treelings.
Still able to kill hogs out to 300 yards with it though.

I like them. They are heavy and very solid and a good choice for a longish range/precision/varmint rifle. Did I mention they are heavy?
I was wrong...on anything technical. Fitz............. is right, ya know............

I've also never found it awkward in any position. I've used it on a bench, prone, off hand, in a blind, out the truck window, etc. Sometimes I make slight adjustments to the length of pull, but that's to get it perfect. It's usually not necessary. I have no idea why this stock would be awkward for someone when any other stock isn't. I set the gun up for all around Texas hunting, and after having done just that for deer, I am keeping it just like it is.

Like I said, only time it feels awkward is offhand because the LOP doesn't allow me to get behind it. It forces me to shoot across my body like a traditional rifle. Same thing with an A2 stock for me. My other ARs and stocks allow me to get behind the gun. But for the gun I have the PRS on, I wouldn't replace it with any other stock.

Maybe that's why I don't get it. I'm used to traditional stocks and this is my only AR. I shoot it the same way, as far as I know.

I'm 6'-5" and have a longer Length of Pull than most folks, so I just added the extended buttpad. https://www.magpul.com/products/prs-extended-rubber-butt-pad

I know I'm going to purchase one but what irks me is where I find the PRS at a fair but high price ($209.00) they do not have the rifle tube, buffer and spring. And I hate paying freight let alone two different charges. Also noticed while looking for the stock and all a lot of vendors have a tremendous amount of 0 stock on hand. I run a parts store and not having inventory really upsets me, can't sell what ya don't have.

I have one. It's heavy. You don't want that weight when walking around. It's fine for the bench.
It is far more important to be able to hit the target than it is to haggle over who makes a weapon or who pulls a trigger.

What's all this talk about weight? It doesn't weight 20 lbs. My rifle is set up as a precision gun, and weighs a good 10 lbs. with nothing on it. Who knows what it weighs with optics and accessories? We're grown men and walking around a deer lease. We aren't hiking the Frank Church from one end to the other.

Ever held an AR with lightweight furniture and thin barrel? Its a HUGE difference from an AR10 with PRS. I have 4 bicycles that range in weight from 16-45lbs. I love them all the same but I sure do favor the lighter weight ones on long rides.

I'll take that into consideration when I take my AR elk hunting.

I'd pick the Luth AR MBA over a PRS any day of the week. Its lighter and cheaper and does the exact same thing.

I had one on my 308 but swapped it for a UBR because of LOP. I'm 5'9".
Just to make sure that it is done thoroughly, I go both ways.

Agreed ^^^^^^^^^^^ My stock weighs in at about 30 ounces (with rifle tube included), so weight is a factor, but in my case….it helps to balance a heavy barrel and also reduces recoil. When my rifle is fully rigged for hog hunting (see below) it comes in at a hefty 13 lbs. (with ammo). Although I wouldn’t want to carry that around all day…..it doesn’t bother me for several hours of trekking around. I really like the stock; it is very rugged and very quiet. .458 SOCOM
