What's the best strategy for dense fog? More motion? More decoys? Stay home?

My first ever duck hunt was in the fog. I don't recall any mojos or lots of wind.
I know when the fog began to lift the birds just dropped out of no where into the spread. With that said, certainly go.
Now if you have to go by boat be careful.

Fog usually helps birds come in closer to the decoys. The worst hunting is when it is nothin but blue skies from my experience.

I will take blue skies over any other weather condition, dense fog is not good unless your goose hunting. Blue skies are horrible for ducks, but bueno for goose hunting. Ducks move before legal on those blue birds days. Geese are lazy, and move later regardless. The clear days allow the geese to see you flagging from much farther away. THE KEY to hunting fog is Being on the "X". You are not going to run traffic or call down birds when they can't see your spread. Being where they want to be is most important during low visibility. I'll take, fog, rain, sleet, snow, wind over sunny, warm, calm conditions 8 days a week.

I've always done well in the fog. Gotta change up a bit. I tend to hunt more marsh in the fog or cloudy days. In this dense fog, they cannot see the spread, so I do a lot of light quacks and lonesome hens to try and steer them in my direction, even if I cannot see them. Shots tend to be right in your face on foggy mornings.
Blue bird days, we go straight to the woods. There is no such thing as a bad day for duck hunting. If you hunt the same way every time, yes I can see how you can say that. Change it up and they are all good!

Cold Blue bird days with high winds = good for mallards.
OTM, give me nasty weather.
Foggy days are great when hunting private tanks they are trained to go to.

I think most people who have bad luck on clear days probably aren't hiding well enough

Not a terrible morning. Our mallards either didn't fly or they are gone for the first time in a month.
