Saw this guy Sunday morning in San Saba. I thought it was the result of the rut but not sure. Look at his legs. Hair is worn off. And what the heck is that big gash across his back and side?

Got rolled in a fight, then butt punched as he turned tail to run. Dunno what's up with the hair loss on the legs. More than likely from persistent travel through some very gnarly stuff.

Have seen much worse evidence of fighting than the 'streak' on that buck's side. More often... you see a number of of 'tufts' sticking up on their backs and rear end (where antlers have scraped the hide and hair) but long furrows are not uncommon either, especially if the buck went to the ground and had to get up. They can take a pretty good licking before outrunning their adversary, or until he quits. Flint.

The buck under the feeder is what happened to him...the little one on the outside wasn't even willing to get in the fight...

Guess I'd better start looking for the big boy that did this to him. One lease member said he saw a 160 from that blind
