My buddy tells a story of his Dad, who grew up in Maine, had fallen asleep up against a tree. When he woke up there was a big 6 standing and feeding behind the tree. As the deer went by, he couldn't pull his rifle because the deer was right next to him. So, he pulled out his buck knife and supposedly slit the bucks neck.

Except for the part about growing up in Maine.

An old friend once shot a deer, leaned his rifle against a tree, and got out his knife. As the approached the deer, it jumped up and attacked him. He got hit with the hooves a few times, dropped the knife and could not get to his rifle.
He had a Browning Hi-Power and proceeded to pour all 13 rounds into the deer at close range, killing it at last.
Old Mac was amazed when it was all over to see the slide locked back on his Browning, he had no clear recollection of emptying the gun that way.
Kind regards, charlesb

I like to sneak up on them and slap them on the butt. I call it "catch and release" hunting.
I learned long ago you can't reason someone out of something they don't reason themselves into.

I like to sneak up on them and slap them on the butt. I call it "catch and release" hunting. The Indians called that "counting coup". I'll just stick to high fence hunting with a handful of corn and a ball peen hammer. "Here bucky, bucky, bucky."

I like placing my stand at my feeder, that way I can hit deer in the head with a hammer. It's quite and I usually get 2-3 hits at a time, greatly reducing my hunting trips
I'd ask him if he's pregnant. He missed a s__tload of periods. I'll take "things that look like a uterus" for $200 Alex.

I like getting as close as i can to make the right shot, but i can do long shots if I have to. I can shoot a deer so far away that I have to put salt on the bullet before i shoot so the meat won't spoil by the time it takes to walk to it. Well, thats what legend says anyway.
